h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

In my mind, religion is something thought up mainly to calm people down, don't get me wrong, I beleive that if you beeive in sometihng, that's fine, that's your right. I'm simply stating my own perspective, which is my right. I beleive that even after religion is completey, beyond a doubt, proven wrong, people wil beleive in it. That may seem odd, but think about it. People need religion, they need to think that there will be somehting after this life. People have always been frightened by the concept of death, but religion can soothe much of that away. Personally, I am an athyest and though I think that even if my family had brought me up with religion, I would still be an athyest. Despite this, I find myself occasionally yearning for the comfort and reassurance of complete faith. It is in this that find the allure of religion, the reason that I have no prejudices against those of you who have other beliefs, in fact I often find myself encouraging others, so that they just might live without the fear of death. People often mistake these thoughts of mine for a want to join their religion. I have researched many types of religion in my searches, and every tim find myself filled with doubt.
