h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

This is to confirm, that these Trees do grow in INDIA. Apart from the One's noticed in the place called MANDU,Madhya Pradesh,(this was by one of the posts in h2g2), these trees are also being found in the Gujarat state.

I am living in the Gujarat State, and I personally have observed the tree at three different Districts of the Gujarat. However very few are aware of the facts and figures of this Tree.

At different locations in Gujarat this tree is being referred by different local names. It is verey recently that I have been able to know the real Common name and its Scientific Name.

I have traced FOUR numbers of living Baobab Trees growing in our Locality, and have started studying the same. Almost all the four of them seems to be around the same age. The Thickness of the Trunk observed is around 6-6.5 Feets, and 100 Feets tall. Can we really decide the approximately th exact age from the thickness of the trunk? If yes what would be the age of these trees described above. Kindly let me know.

At this time the baobab fruits have started appearing, and I am waiting for the raw fruits to get ripe. Atleast it would take some 2 months more. Then i would try for cultivating the same.
