Inaccessible

I am gonna be gone until the 11th and I can't go online from where I'll be gone so I won't be around. Since one of my entries was just recomended, and another just sent to a Sub-Editor, I am kindda afraid about people leaving messages and thinking that I'm being unfriendly and rude by not replying. I'm sorry about the delay but I promise I'll reply as soon as I am back on the 11th.

Boomtown, YM, ..........

There's a new series on TV, something called Boomtown, which me am pretty sure has been release in ze US long b4 it came 2 India (umm mostly 'coz zey advertise that some critic somewhere named it ze Best Show of 2002 and I doubt ze critic did zat without actually watching ne of it), though either despite ze chimps efforts at keeping it away from Ze Panda, its something that me have finally managed to watch..... Umm ze show itself shows a single story invariably involving cops (ze good guys) and criminals (ze not so bad guys) from different ppls perspective, and umm these guys have been saying that its ze next big thing in story telling, which is something with which me don't agree..... Now this different perspective thingee has been done before, in paintings and umm Picaso popularized it (I guess its called cubism) and he painted some of his pics with lots of tiny fragments showing lots of different perspectives. Well I don't like Picaso all that much, I am more of Van Gaugh guy, though I've never really been in front of ne of their paintings, and have rather had the opportunity of seeing zem online. Umm to put it simply its like photography, when neone takes a photograph they take it from a perspective of their choice either 'coz its the only perspective they can use (often in wildlife, and sports photography) or its the one perspective that they like (more common with landscapes and glamour), and well if they r good at it, their chosen perspective is something which others love, otherwise they r bad photographers. Now despite my likes and dislikes cubism is something that can work with images because images capture but one moment in time making it nearly impossible for neone to figure out what actually led to that particular moment....... Books, movies and television series (plural) r different 'coz zey focus on an entire event, and umm if someone wants u to look at things from different perspective the usual way to do it is to make a documentary or write an objective account and let ppl figure out what they feel abt it and discuss it. In case of fiction I kindda like seeing thru the authors perspective 'coz an authors perspective often tells u abt who he is, his story and umm a lot of other rather interesting details, which is y if u ever read a piece of work originating from an author who for ne length of time had lived in the former Soviet Union, u can recognize that fact, u can differentiate an american author from a british author, and hopefully for very similar reasons u can recognize zat zis piece was written by me. And that is perhaps ze main reason y I like something like The First Circle over something like ze Gulag Archipelago, but more importantly y I like the Gulag Archipelago over something like The Rise & Fall of the Third Reich, 'coz even though all three r books abt dark times in history (though the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich focusses on a different period of time as opposed to ze other two), The First Circle has more of the author's viewpoint coming in than does the Gulag Archipelago, and well ze Rise & Fall of the Third Reich has no perspective from the authors side 'coz its simply written based on documents seized by ze US army..... For ze same reason when Boomtown goes into multiple perspectives of ze same situation I find out more abt how the character is supposed to feel abt the situation than abt how the author does, which kindda makes it like one of ze first person shooters where ze game developer has no role in ze script instead letting u decide which bad guy u like and which u don't, besides if ze director/ze scriptwriter had to choose one perspective and one perspective only ze series wud probably tell u a lot more abt how good or how bad they actually r at zis stuff, 'coz then their perspective is all zat matters...... And umm while my ramblings abt y I don't like ze show may be meaningless to most, and well while ze director of ze series is allowed to take his perspective on the entire thing (which is to say zat since he likes this form, its probably good for him) its not something zat I really liked, and umm becoz of zat I didn't get ze point abt how zis is ze next biggest thing in storytelling.... Though this dislike for zis particular form may be something restricted entirely to pandas and umm well that wud be sad 'coz then we wud have 2 c one 2 many shows with zis multi-perspective thingee and zat wudnt be 2 nice..... Oh and I am still gonna be watching Boomtown, 'coz despite ze multi-perspective thingee I kindda like ze stories, which in essence means zat all I don't like (don't hate either) is ze way in which ze stories end up being told.........

Yahoo messenger encrypts its archives, somehow using ze username as ze key... Encryption is good, 'coz it provides security, and no matter how wimpish the encryption algorithm used, however using a key which can so easily be guessed kindda destroys the entire point of encrypting data, now Yahoo cud have easily used the password to encrypt, though in that case they'd have had to go thru a reencryption thingee every time someone changed their passwords, which though hard is not really earth shattering..... Neways Yahoo's reliance on less than perfect keys is something which is helping one of my friends figure out messages sent by someone to a few of his friends, and though I don't really approve of zis invasion of privacy, ze guys happy abt it so I don't much care abt it..... Interestingly sometime back I had helped zis same friend write out a piece on the morality of malicious computer related activities, u know when used due to legitimate concerns and when used otherwise, and zis guy had included some comment which said that skool kids who r good at zis stuff shud be educated abt ze moralities of ze issue, which I believed was stupid, 'coz if someone asked me to attend a moral education class I wud probably refuse, and if forced to attend I'd search for nice ways to bunk, and umm bunking classes in skool was one thing I was reallllllllly goooooooooood at.........

Happily someone thinx my second entry at ze H2G2 is also worthy of inclusion in ze Edited Guide, which is cool 'coz I really doubted zat neone wud actually like zat entry........... Hmm cooooooool.... Most of today was spent listening to ze Lord of The Rings (Fellowship not Two Towers) soundtrack, which was lying in a long forgotten cassette right next to me stereo system....... I always did like LOTRs soundtrack mostly 'coz it has zis haunting quality abt it, which forces u to keep listening to it...... Me am planning to buy ze CD soon enuf, so lets hope zat it, unlike No Angels, is available, 'coz otherwise me wudnt like it..............

Ze Panda
off to read a few of ze broken conversations me friend sent........

P.S. This is a copy of what I posted on my blog today, mostly 'coz someone was kind enuf to point out that I hadn't posted nething to my journal. I'd be doing this on a regular basis though becoz of the format I have long adopted for my blog, the english wud be nething but standard, sorry abt that....smiley - biggrin
