I wondered if smiley - thepost might like to run this short story of mine: A4150847 ? As you can see, it's called 'Shrinking' and is an everyday tale of student life, smiley - ale and psychiatry. It seems to have been well received over at the Alternative Writing Workshop and even smiley - yikes outside h2g2. I hope you'll like it too. smiley - smiley

Glad you liked the story! Just to avoid any possible confusion, I thought I should point out that I have made some changes to the story since I initially posted here, in response to constructive criticisms received in the Alternative Writing Workshop and from my University short story writing tutor. The changes are mostly contained in a few extra paragraphs about the character 'Cathy' in the middle of the story, and start after the single-line paragraph 'But this time, not even chocolate helped'. I don't think I've added anything particularly contentious, but you might like to take a look anyway; and if you had already copied the story for smiley - thepost, please use this updated and, I think, improved version instead. smiley - ok

HI Ormandroyd, I posted what was sent to the Post address last week, I did put the chocolate thing in a single line paragraph. Hope what is published is to your liking.

smiley - yikes I didn't send anything to the Post address last week - I just gave you the A-number ( A4150847 ) of the story. The point is that I have added a whole extra section to the story since then, in response to comments received.

What is published will be to my liking if it looks like what is at A4150847 *now*! Sorry if that causes you any trouble, but at most it only requires a deletion of last week's version and a quick copy'n'paste job! smiley - grovel

Omigawd, it's the old version. smiley - groan

OK, let me make this really simple. Here is what I am pleading with you to do: smiley - grovel

1) Delete the text from A4354788 .

2) Use the text from A4150847 instead. It is better, longer, and has some rather cool links to Edited Entries in it. All you have to do is copy the code from A4150847 .

Please do this for me. smiley - grovel I put a lot of work into the improvements to the story in order to make the final version as good as possible for smiley - thepost.

Hi people. smiley - smiley
Don't want to butt in, but since Ormy appears to be offline, I thought I'd point out that you can copy and paste the GuideML from <./>test4150847</.>. All flawlessly done GuideML, from what I can see. So you wouldn't need to GuideML it, Reefgirl (if that is you hiding under there) smiley - ok

Thanks Jodan! I am here, and that's just what I've been suggesting! smiley - ok

But, as I've also just said in another thread, if it all gets too complicated I'd be happy for the story to be pulled from this week's Post so that the finished version can appear another week.
