I really don't know/mind. Something about the cricket maybe?
Oh, for the next few weeks will it be alright if I write specific cricket world cup reports, like I did for the football world cup, and wimbledon?
I'm sure there must be a nice cricket graphic around somewhere I can use...

Yes... that would be fine
We have a nice picture of stumps created for Abi's previous cricket articles some time ago... A761519

That will do nicely.
I got laughed at the other day when discussing cricket with someone when I revealed that my fantasy world cup team has BAstian Zuiderent in it. I really hope Holland spring a surprise so I don't have to drop him, but considering only three get through out of Holland, Namibia, India, West Indies, Australia, England and Zimbabwe it doesn't look too likely...

Sadly not... but at least I'll probably get a chance to watch some cricket on Dutch TV for a change

I've always been a fan of the smaaler nations in world cups- i remember Scotland took part in 99 and against Australia they hit 30 in 2 overs of Shane Warne, but then capitulated.

Yes... it's great when that happens - a bit like the 'Giant Killers' in football. Still, if Holland do, by some miracle, progress, then maybe the Dutch will start taking more of an interest.

Well, Bas Zuiderent already plays in the County Championship (b*stard scored a century against Worcestershire last season), so if a few more can follow him, maybe Holland can get something going in cricket terms. It would be nice to have countries other than the ex-British colonies playing the sport.

Quite so - although if France and Italy join in it could devalue the game somewhat.
Did I say that? Nah...

I was flicking through an old copy of "wisden" the other day, and I found an article about the MAldives national team. And also apparently the US and Canada play each other once a year in a friendly.
So there are a few teams milling around, it's just that none of them are getting any nkind of test or one-day-international status, and with the exception of Holland, there's no team in the world cup which was never in the British empire.

That's because they all plead that they don't understand the rules! Besides, all those countries which are used to siestas probably won't even consider playing a game which takes ALL DAY to play!
I see that Northants Saints Rugby team were doing quite well - any news on the cricket team for this year? Since the Beeb went digital we don't get teletext pages.

The BBc cricket site might be useful- apparently Mal Loyes buggered of to Lancashire. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/cricket/counties/northamptonshire/default.stm
I saw Northants play Worcestershire last year, and as a Worcestershire fan, I was p**sed off, but at the same time delighted to witness the sublime batting of Mike Hussey, that Aussie fella of theirs. How he doesn't get in the aussie national team i've no idea.

they've probably got an oficial site that's better than the beeb (I know worcester's is), but I've no idea what the address might be.

Arse. I'm in the uni library, and there's no sound card in the computers.

It's a programme called 'Sports International' http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/programmes/sport_i.shtml
You can listen to it on demand... the page is showing last week's edition at the moment but it features the cricket one... just click and listen
How come Hayden is playing so damned well now anyway? He didn't do anything for Northants really!

no idea, but he was pretty storming in the ashes, wasn't he?
Worcestershire fans are in shock at the moment- for the first time in years we *haven't* got an aussie overseas palyer. Nightmare.
