Hi
Of course you may link to it - it's all owned by the BBC now!
When I wrote it, I honestly thought they wouldn't publish it, but I've since had so many nice comments about it. Thank you for yours

Hi EE - long time no speak!
That looks interesting. Will you be attending any of the events? It's good to see an event like this which is aimed at everybody, not just children.
We have lots of those hands-on 'exploratory' exhibitions in the UK, but they're all either vandalised or fairly boring souped-up school experiments. I love science lectures - every Christmas they show a fascinating series of Royal Society lectures on UK TV. The audience are children, but the science is universal.

I know the TV lectures you mention. There is a very good Young Scientists Awards in Ireland, held yearly at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) in Dublin. I rarely go to lectures these days, but studied horticulture years ago and got a good basic training. I had started out studying languages and literature before that.
You might enjoy the new section to my blog:

I find the split between the arts and sciences increasingly unhelpful as a way of looking at the World. It's enjoyable to try to keep up with all that being written at the moment. I shall take more time to read your pages, as I have not accessed h2g2 since April.

Hi EE
Good luck with the Blog awards! You have some beautiful photography on that site - is it all yours?
We have a small group of photographers here who illustrate the Edited Guide Entries - see A15846438 if you're interested in this sort of thing.
I've been busy helping out writing entries and also doing a lot of subediting. I've often thought about starting a journal (blog) on my Personal Space but I can never think what to say. I'm just not much of a conversation-starter!

Many thanks for the link to the H2G2 Photographers Group. I'll certainly look into it further.
I was given a new camera as a Christmas gift, so all the photos on my blog are recent work. I joined Flickr, the Photo Upload site linked to Yahoo, and have found many helpful posters there. It's a steep learning curve.
I think you write very well, so a personal blog might offer an outlet for reflections on everyday events. I started blogging because I hoped to learn computer skills. It takes off of its own accord, I find, as people drop by to leave comments. I dislike personal diary writing in a book, even though I used keep one in my youth. Somehow posting on the Net makes it all a bit more real and less intorverted.
Now I'm off to catch up on what you have been writing here...
Have a great weekend.

Just calling by to say "Hello".
I thought you might enjoy some of the photos taken in Yorkshire at the end of May.

Hi EE
Great pictures - you're a fine photographer, no mistake. Did you ever look into the h2g2 Photographers group?
We have a few researchers from Yorkshire - Elentari's in York and writes about it from time to time. It's been a while since I had a holiday there, but I've been walking in the Dales, and loved every minute of it.
I started a h2g2 journal since we last spoke. It's great when people post replies, isn't it? I never really expected to get the response I did.
Hope all is well with you.

Many thanks for adding me to your friends.
I had added you to my list already, so am pleased
that we're up to date.
In general, Irish people tend to be quite relaxed about
making contacts on the Internet, which reflects a gregarious
culture. I hope I did not jump the gun by adding your name
without asking.
I'll certainly look up the Yorkshire members you mention.
I shall be holidaying there again and have come to love the
landscape very much. We walked in the Wolds, but did not
get as far as the Dales.
As for the h2g2 Photography group I joined but have been very
busy until now. Shall look to it today.
