By circuitous route, came upon your ruminations on trolls.

Concerned I may feature on your list. Hope I don't. If I do, I offer the observation, which I've made to others in "private" (i.e. not here), that while h2g2 is BBC owned and run I feel a certain license to misbehave, a license I shall not feel when the place is effectively being run not just for but by my mates.

I hope the (other) people who feature on your list are similarly considerate.

I hope further that your continued enjoyment of this site is not, in fact, interrupted by me or anyone else.

Sorry about the delayed response, reality's been a beast over the last week or so.

You do not feature on my list of trolls. My perception of you is that you're keen to point out sloppy thinking where you see it - and there's rather a lot of it out there - but that doesn't strike me as trollish. It's more of a public service, really.

There are several reasons I stay out of some threads you follow. The main reason is the time difference; by the time I see the thread it's been there for almost a day sometimes and everything worth saying has been said. At other times the topic has already drifted so much that it's hardly worth joining in. Most of the time, though, I do watch and think about the issues.

I'm glad I posted my thoughts on trolls and trolling. Some people are starting to think about the issues and I've seen some evidence of behaviour changing. It's not a complete solution to the problem but it is a start.

I think, or at least hope, that there will be a general adjustment in the behaviour of what I might characterise as "the usual suspects" once this site is no longer under the aegis of a faceless corporation we all (in the UK) pay for, and is instead being at least in part administrated by people we regard as "us".

Interesting times ahead.
