Merry Christmas, hun! I find the Pope's remarks pretty infuriating too. And infuriating that you got modded for trying to comment on them.
May you have an excellent holiday anyway!

Thanks. Merry Christmas to you too.
The thing that gets me most is the timing. A statement of hate on the eve of the alleged season of goodwill. As you know, I gave up Christianity some time ago; it's rubbish like this that makes me lose all residual respect for it. That saddens me. It's hard to respect other people's beliefs when what they believe is that I'm evil incarnate.
*shakes head sadly*
Anyway. Enough of that. Let's be cheerful and talk about the future. Do you have any plans or particular hopes for the New Year? I mean, there's a good thing happening on 20 January, but apart from that?

Well I've been feeling better lately, less depressed, in part because I've started taking a B12 vitamin supplement. I have more energy, and am less cold. I'm hoping that the improvement in mood will translate into the ability to paint much more in 2009. I want to finish my sister's abstract painting, my Wizard of Oz painting, and do some portraits of Leonardo Dicaprio. Would also like to do some Star Wars paintings. And for a friend of mine, a Yellow Submarine Beatles painting.
I'd also like to get more fit. I'm working out twice a week with my niece, which is really helping.
And lastly, I wouldn't mind falling in love with someone!

Ah, yes. That last item on your list does appear on my list with monotonous regularity. There's just such a shortage of worthwhile candidates for the role these days. *sigh*
That aside, things are looking good.
I should do something about getting more exercise. Deliberate exercise, rather than just walking everywhere because the bus system is so bad. That would be novel.

I don't know why, but that reminds me, have you seen the movie Australia? What did you think? I liked it. Especially liked the little boy in it. Sort of a grand sweeping epic. It was a bit long.

I haven't seen it, and I probably won't. I'm not much of a Nicole fan, or a Baz Luhrmann fan if it comes to that, and the impression I get from reviews is that it was made very much for a foreign audience. That being said, I'm glad someone's finally done something about the bombing of Darwin. It does tend to get overlooked that Darwin was bombed flat during the war... (It was destroyed again in 1974. Not a lucky site, maybe.)
Does the film inspire you to visit the country of the same name? That's the great hope of the tourism industry here.

Erm, the landscape did look impressive, but I doubt I'll have the money to travel there.
Did I mention that I got REALLY cute monkey slippers for Christmas? They are a blast!
Almost midnight here, I'd better get to bed. I'm headed to a friend's party tomorrow. Night night.

Monkey slippers? Maybe that's what I should have found for my sister. I might save that idea for her birthday, in winter. Thanks for it.
I should have an afternoon nap now... See you tomorrow, probably.

Today I'm off to a friend's place, bearing a couple of bottles of a Nourishing Fruit Drink . This'll be fun.

Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Jan 10, 2009
Not a lot, really. I'm just home after an afternoon with another friend and a whole lot of Nourishing Barley and Hops Drink. *hic* So I might not be entirely lucid or rational.
There's Turkish food on its way from the nice Turkish shop where they agree to bring the food home for you if you pay an extra $3. That's only an extra $2 in your $, I think.
Oh yes. I've officially become a w*rkplace supervisor for the first time. This is really quite exhausting, truth be told. And it feels very unnatural being in control of anyone else. My inner anarchist doesn't like this at all. But the money's nice.
How are you?

I'm doing well. Been working on a painting from the Wizard of Oz. It's of Dorothy and Glenda. So far it looks nice.
And I got some new socks, which I really needed.
Hello Ivan!
Ivan the Terribly Average Posted Jan 11, 2009
Hurrah for socks. They're often overlooked, I find. I should get some myself, but somehow it doesn't make it to the top of the priority list in the middle of summer. I prefer to go barefoot anyway, so I only need socks five days out of seven at this time of year. Free-range toes are good.
There's supposed to be a thunderstorm some time in the next few hours. I wish it would hurry up and get here... The air's horribly still and humid at the moment. A storm will take the edge off it.

*bump*
And here I am again. I've lost track of all sorts of threads, and thus a large number of people, over the last year or so. This is a bit of housekeeping, so I can find people again...
I wish I had something to say, though.
How are you?
