I'm home again, and I have .
Consider this a bookmark; I'll be back later when I'm more alert. It's been a hellish fortnight. We're looking for a Home to put the old girl into...

Sorry to hear things did not go well, hope your family find a good home for your Grandma, it's never and easy thing to do.
Good Luck

We've found a place for the old girl; she moves in there tomorrow. The Home is run by a local Italian community charity. Mum points out that Italians treat old people with the respect they deserve, so it won't be too bad a place. The old girl will be better off with another ethnic minority rather than in a mainstream place.
Being tired and stressed, I've naturally picked up some minor virus or other. Back at w*rk tomorrow, though.

Hope your Grandma is settling in OK at the home. My Mother is having problems with her memory which is gradually getting worse, my sister who is the organised one in the family is bearing the brunt of the problem, she now checks all her mail, pays her bills and keeps her on track. She is managing OK at the moment, but if the warden thinks that she needs more care she can have her removed from the flat which is a worry.
Hope you are now fit and well - still job hunting? In my office 2 people left last week, another finishes tomorrow and at least one more is leaving next month - that's alot in an office which only has about 20 staff in it!

My grandmother sounds like she's settling into the home. At least she's stopped trying to escape, which is a good start. My mother sounds a lot calmer about the whole business too. Mum used to go to her house at least once a week, do her shopping and banking, pay the bills... Now she can relax just a little bit, knowing that the old girl's getting more care than she could give.
My job hunt is continuing, but considering recent events I've put a new spin on it. I'm now looking only at jobs in Adelaide; it's obvious that I'll have to be there more and more in the years ahead, so I might as well just go back there now at my own pace rather than try to rush through everything when there's a crisis. I've put in one application; let's see how that goes.

It must be a relief your Gran is settling down in the home. Nobody likes to think they will end up in a home, but sometimes it's the best place if they need alot of attention on a daily basis.
I finished making a wonky vase out of stained glass, now I am starting my big project - 2 windows I started cutting the glass on Tuesday at my night school class. After cutting a wonky line on one piece, then breaking another piece my teacher finally took over. I marked them out and he cut them for me - which was great, but now there is no class for 2 weeks and he is expecting me to cut most of the rest by the time I go back I was better at cutting the glass when I didn't know what I was doing, the teacher said that as you learn you gain a level of consciousness about what you are doing, then as you practice you loose that consciousness as it becomes more instinctive and automatic (well words to that effect anyway). Unfortunately I am currently stuck in very conscious of what I am doing so I tense up and that's what makes it go wrong - I can see a vicious circle starting here!
Hope the job application is successful.

Hello again.
I'm not going to be on this site very much in future; maybe once a week or so, but not every day as I have been. I'm planning on setting up somewhere else online.
I'll still keep this thread open - but if you like, you can find me at the email address on my personal space. We could even be terribly old-fashioned and use paper and ink and stamps.
Let me know how the windows go. I do need to go and do something creative...

I don't get on this site much either these days, but I don't get anywhere else on the net much either! After the disasterous start with cutting the first glass for the windows, I have had 2 weeks to get to grips with it myself before tomorrow nights lesson - so guess what I will be doing tonight! I think I need to work on my time management skills - took time off work over Easter planning to gets lots done and appart from building a small wall from rockery stones in order to level a small part of the garden, which took a lot longer than anticipated.
Regards
Suzie
