When exactly did we start working for our support staff instead of the other way around? The IT people at my office are telling me how I am allowed to use my computer, I naively thought that they were there to help me use the tools I need to work better, not tell me how I can or can't do my job. It has nothing to do with doing anything dangerous, illegal or just non-work related. It is simply a matter of them wanting one system that is easy for them to administer, and now that seems to be more important than a system which is easy for me to use, or in fact does what I need it to do. Personally I would rather have no support, than pay to be hindered in my work.

shady salesmen

I dislike the attitude which believes that the sale is all important and the method by which it is achived is not important. I had a guy come to my door and lie about being from my gas company, when he was in fact with a rival company. He subsequently got me to sign a document which effectively increased my gas bill, while saying it would decrease it. I subsequently phoned them and told them to get stuffed, but it is the deceitful, manipulative, hard-sell attitude which really leaves me dismayed.

In Support of Service

Why is it that support staff are never actually supportive? Why do people with jobs which require them to help other people do tasks which, if they were allowed to do themselves, would be quite easy to do, actually spend their time preventing said people from actually accomplishing said task?
I have been trying to work with these people, who admittedly have boring jobs, but if you don't want to do the job, quit. Don't just do a rotten job of it. To all the lazy people out their who prevent others from leading their own lives by taking support/service jobs and then not doing them. I hope that you are one day in a position to rely on other people who are just like you.
