Hi Crescent,
I found you and your UoL project "The Cell" when I started to look around for some fellow researchers. I just started a project on biological waste water treatment (http://www.h2g2.com/A469037) in the department of environmental science. I think that our projects have a common denominator, namely the nutrition of micro-organisms.
Is your project still running? Do you think that we can benefit from one another? Do you know people who might want to contribute to my project?
However, as you are Official Scout, ACE, Subeditor and Guru, I may ask you if you are willing to follow the progress of my project in the next weeks?!?
Looking forward to your answer,
HollePolle.

Hi again, I just logged in again and found your reply!
As I have not been used to chatting in the web before h2g2, and as I am not a native Englishman (but German), I do not know the meaning of BCNU, unfortunately. I already figured that AKA must mean something like "also known as", for example. In some conversations there are really long abbreviations and I simply have to "ignore" them .
So maybe you can help me with that?!?
Thanks, and "talk" to you soon,

I would be happy to help you with any abbreviation problems BCNU means exactly what it says. If you say each letter out loud (well with the way the alphabet is pronounced in the UK and the US) it is 'Bee See Enn You' and if you say that quickly it becomes 'Be Seein You'. A quote from the great TV programme The Prisoner I hope this helps, and if there are any others, just bring them here and I will do what I can to unravel them for you Well, until later...

There you are!
Hi, Crescent,
I'm confused again about some abbreviations, namely ROFL and NB. Can you help me with them?
Are you getting on well with "The Cell"?

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you, but I was off for a few days last week Unfortunatly the Cell is on the back burner (along with at least five other articles I am writing at the mo', due to work OK for the abbreviations ROFL is Roll on Floor with Laughter. NB is more complicated, it is like a footnote (I think) it actually stands for the words Nota Bene (latin?). According to dictionary.com it is used to draw attention to an important point Hope this helps. If you have any others, please bring them along Until later.....

Hello again!
I have the feeling that my project is almost done. *puhhh* And there is Trillian's Child, who is taking a closer look at the articles in the moment.
I just wanted to let you know that you do not need to feel pressurised (?!?) by me, or whoever, to look at or even edit my project...
Let me know, if you need some feedback or help with your project!

You can call me TC Posted Jan 15, 2001
Hi Guys - I found this in the most recently updated in the "info" list and having read it am very very guilty about not hhaving had a closer look at the work Holle Polle had done.
But I have done better and have offered to edit the whole project within the subeds group, so I shall certainly look forward to it.
See they have already made a film of your entry, Crescent.
(bad pun)
How's the baby then, HP? Have you really taken time off work? That's great. You will be in on the "bonding" part, where mother and child are an entity and almost unaware of anyone else (including the father). Do enjoy this, but don't feel put out if your lady doesn't want to talk to you or acts a bit strange. She will go through all the emotional extremes in the next few weeks, and there's nothing you can do. Make sure she gets plenty of sleep and eats well, drinks a lot (I hope she is breast feeding. Personally, I think whoever invented the bottle for babies should be hung, drawn and quartered if he/she was still alive) Leave her alone if needs be, cuddle her a lot. (Don'd cuddle too hard, those breasts are very tender and painful)
Sorry - didn't want to lecture, just trying to do my bit for the man/woman understanding thing.j

Has Crescent anything to add to the entries in this project? I really must get on with it. It's been six months now!
