I see that you are the editor of the article on Ogham (A564707). I notice that the recommended version talks about Ogham inscriptions being found in Ireland and the United Kingdom in 4AD. Two things in that sound really strange - the date 4 AD rather than the 4th century AD, and the use of 'United Kingdom'. Surely you can't talk about the United Kingdom until it was actually in existence, that is, after 1700 and whatever for Scotland and England, and 1801 if you include Ireland. In the 4th century AD, wasn't it just Britain?

Hey Azara Thanks for the feedback Normally I try not to touch the Entry as much as possible (the first few Entries I edited I basically rewrote in my style ) I think if I can undersatnd it, most people will and so I try and let as much of the authors style through as possible. However, I see what you mean, hmmmm, what about :-
'...ancient alphabet which was used for inscriptions on stones in Ireland, and the United Kingdom, in 4AD.'
becomes :-
'...ancient alphabet which was used for inscriptions on stones in what is now Ireland, and the United Kingdom, in the 4th Century AD.'
Unfortunately I cannot edit this anymore, but I will ask TPTB to do it Anything else, just yell Until later....

And here's the first line as I originally wrote it:
Ogham (pronounced oh-um) is an ancient alphabet which was used for inscriptions on stones in Ireland and Great Britain in the 4th century AD.

Now that the article has been published, I see that an Ogham inscription has been provided as a heading:
OGBAM ALFABET
The F in alphabet is correct because P and PH did not exist in Ogham, but it is a pity that B was used accidentally instead of H!
Key: Complain about this post
