The day after Thanksgiving is traditionally known as 'Black Friday' here in the states because it is one of the busiest shopping days of the year and the volume of business allegedly puts shops in 'black ink' for the year.
But this year Black Friday has a new meaning as Hummelstown mayor 'Brud' Alexander died.
Brud was a family friend and a local legend, serving as mayor of the small borough of Hummelstown for 28 years. He was active in so many different events that I worry how we'll get along without him.
He was the leader of the annual Memorial Day parade, the town's arts festival, the Halloween parade, the New Years Eve celebration and dozens and dozens of smaller roles.
He will be missed.

Always sad when a friend dies. Especially one as obviously active as your friend has been in the community. Pass my regards on to his family from a budding Scottish politician.
