In the article 'Three Basics of Electronics' http://www.h2g2.com/A455285 is a mistake. Kirchhoff's second law is not 'the voltage dropped across devices like resistors, is equal to the voltage applied to the circuit' but 'the sum of voltages around any closed path in a network equals zero'. There was a quite hot discussion about it with the author but it led to nothing -- so I contact you, the sub-editor.
