I can't find the old thread, so-
You volunteered to help with my baseball project () and I've been particularly busy this week, so I'm wondering specifically what areas and entries you feel like helping me with ()
is swamped

Promises, promises, promises...
I'll go check out what you've got on your project page and let you knowfirst thing in the morning what I can tackle.
Hello Jimi
Jimi X Posted Jul 15, 2003
I'll see if I can't add a bit to the following:
A1077743 - The Greats of American Baseball
A1074511 - Stadiums (which is where I got sucked into this thing)
A1074133 - History of American Baseball
and A1075925 - National League Teams
I'd like to help out on the AL teams, but writing I hate the DH over and over isn't much help.
Besides, I know the NL much better...

Okay. I've got a lot (a lot!) done on the NL teams, so I can finish up the AL teams I guess. It's the one I've done the least amount of work on
Hello Jimi
J Posted Jul 21, 2003
Okay, I'm working on it. I've got a lot of the NL teams content done, and I have to run through grammar and finish the section on the Cardinals but anything you have is very helpful.
Hello Jimi
J Posted Jul 23, 2003
I'm working on the NL entry, but I decided to split up the Greats entry into several entries on the particular players
I've got-
A1117388 Lou Gehrig - Baseball Legend
A1117487 Cy Young - Baseball Legend
A1117621 Babe Ruth - Baseball Legend
A1118648 Ty Cobb - Baseball Legend
A1118657 Jackie Robinson - Baseball Legend
A1118666 Pete Rose - Baseball Legend
A1118675 Mickey Mantle - Baseball Legend
A1118684 Joe DiMaggio - Baseball Legend
A1118693 Ted Williams - Baseball Legend
A1118701 Yogi Berra - Baseball Legend
A1118710 Sandy Koufax - Baseball Legend
Who did I miss? I know I did miss some.

Wow!
Hammerin' Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente seem obvious choices to me.
You could also do something on dynasties - the Big Red Machine of the 70s and the Murderers Row and 50s versions of the Yankees.
But I'm wondering if this might not make a whole 'nother project - Baseball Legends or Legendary Figures of American Baseball...
Hello Jimi
J Posted Jul 24, 2003
Do you think I should change the project to baseball greats? I know a lot more about the people, and I think I might be able to finish it easier this way
Hmmm. Whattaya reckon? I don't think Mina or Master B would mind too much. Less work for them

*shrug*
It's up to you of course...
There's still a bunch of outstanding projects including one really long one that I'm in the midst of Subbing so I suppose you've got plenty of time.
I'd agree that overall, bios of legends would be easier to do. Though as always, a list of 'legends' is subject to a lot of 'what about this guy' postings.
Did you have Willie Mays on the list btw?
Hello Jimi
J Posted Jul 24, 2003
Thanks, I'll add him. I can't believe I missed these guys
I'll think about this, but I'm beginning to think I don't have time for the rest of the project what with the UG taking up most of my h2g2 time now...
Hello Jimi
J Posted Jul 24, 2003
I decided that if I'm going to get a baseball project done, it'll be about the legends. I simply haven't got the time to do the rest
I'll still be working on the other entries off and on and putting them into PR, maybe
Thanks

I might add a few odd names to the list but I might be able to help.
But I'm seriously needing to get my to-do list under control first.
Hello Jimi
J Posted Jul 25, 2003
I gathered that about your to-do My to-do doesn't exist. As soon as I think of an entry that is worth doing, I start immediately...
Unless I'm missing anyone else blindingly obvious () I think these guys are who I'm going to do. Name recognition is a part of being a legend

There's Stan 'the Man' Musial - a famous Pennsylvanian
You could probably argue in favour of Cal Ripken and his Iron Man streak.
Bob Feller, the guy Ted Williams said was the toughest pitcher he ever faced.
But, being a huge baseball fan, perhaps more obscure 'legends' readily spring to mind.
Hello Jimi
J Posted Jul 25, 2003
I thought long and hard (well I thought) about Cal Ripken. Frankly, I'm still angry he got the 'Most memorable baseball moment' by Mastercard
Feel free to write entries on them. I'll see if I have time at the end of the project

That whole contest was a joke.
I was in a bar in Philadelphia when Carter hit that bomb off of the Wild Thing. That was one of my most memorable moment because I feared for my life!
Actually, I suppose my most memorable moments had to be during Final Exam Week in college when we were all 'studying' and had a Pirates game on and my friend Gus caught a foul ball. His parents called us and asked why they had just seen their son on tv if he was supposed to be studying for exams.
It was a riot! BUSTED!
