I feel daft doing this!
We're going to be overhauling the university soon, and we're contacting Researchers with projects listed. I don't know if you have more than one in there, but what is happening with your golf project? Some of the entries appear to be already Edited, have you decided not to submit it as a project?
How are you lately, btw?

I do plan to finish up that project some day...
I've just got to find the time to get out and play the final two courses a few more times - even though it's getting on toward winter.
Of course, if you want I could just do the write-ups on the courses I have done and submit them to Peer Review. I'm deep into a slacker mode at the moment - just loafing around and taking it easy...
...I haven't even updated my journal in a couple weeks.

It is up to you if you keep it in the Uni, or bring it out and put the entries through PR. However, once the uni is 'refurbished' we won't be allowing entries to languish for years like they do now. Not that I'm picking on you, I'm also nagging Abi and a few others.

NO!!
YOU CAN'T!!
You simply cannot make Abi finish the Mules project!!
It's the only thing that keeps me from feeling like a total slacker.
So the Uni will be part of the community system then? Ooohh, very exciting stuff - I reckon the community team might be better placed to market entries and encourage collaboration, ect.
Not that many Researchers have played golf in Hershey, but I think the idea is brilliant!

Reading back over that last posting, I noticed I made a lot of assumptions that you neither confirmed or denied...
So what will the University look like once it's been refurbished?
I would like to keep my golf project in there and have high hopes of finishing it off over the X-mas holidays (I'll be off work for 12 days so I ought to be able to find *some* time to finish it up!).
Also, I've been doing a lot of work recently on an idea I had for doing a University Project on the American Civil War Battle of Gettysburg - since I've been to the battlefield hundreds of times and have done research for newspaper stories in the past...
But that one will be a biggie - it's leaning toward 13-plus entries at this point. Plus I'd like to do a tie-in with the Battle of Gettysburg and the JFK Assassination...

Hi Jimi,
Sorry, I don't know why I didn't answer your last posting. I must have missed it in my conversation list.
The Uni will look the same, but different. We can't tell you what it's going to look like exactly, because we're still doing the ground work, and will have to get together again to iron out the finer details.
It will probably be run by any and all of the Editorial Team, Abi and I can look after it, but we still need the Guide team, as the entries need to be good enough to go into the Edited Guide.
You are extremely ambitious in your projects!

Jimi X Posted Nov 25, 2002
Ambitious? Me?
Hardly.
I've just got a lot of oddly unique knowledge about the battle from growing up in a household with a history buff and then having worked as a newspaper hack in the area...
Rather than keep all that nonsense bottled up in my noggin, I reckon sharing it (and doing a bit of extra reading to ensure that my recollections are accurate) makes the most sense.
One of the reasons I love h2g2.
Plus, it beats doing my *job*.

What?
You're going to tell me you lot don't have some secret online hangout where you all go to let your hair down...
Pah!
C'mon give me the url. I won't tell anyone.

It's confidential, but it has big ing guns, and the ability to change the bad guys' names. The bloke I enjoy shooting most is called 'Jimy Y'.

It's sad really - everyone looks like me. Slightly tallish with medium build. Dark hair and eyes. Normal complexion. No distinguishing marks...
Every time I go inside the Post Office the photos and composite sketches of the 'FBI's Most Wanted' look just like the guy I see in the mirror when I shave.
And occaisionally, I'll draw a second glance from somebody inside looking at the photos.

And speaking of the University (we were, weren't we?)...
Do the proposed changes have anything to do with the University's revamped categorization system?
C1011
C1012
C1014
Though it makes me wonder what's going to be under C1013...

Heh.
Secrets on this site?
I noticed that word of my secret Anna obsession is making the rounds on the Subeditors' egroup too...

I didn't know that you had one, I'll have to start lurking in there a little more!

So, as a subtle change of topic...
...would this be a bad time to submit a new topic at the h2g2 University?
I'm more than half-way done with my Battle of Gettysburg entries. I can do a project page and set it up formally if you'd like - it's heading toward 20-plus entries I'm afraid. I can't seem to stop doing little entries about small details surrounding the battle.

Mina Posted Dec 7, 2002
Oh, that's a big one! You can submit it in the normal way, although as you've already worked out it'll change faculty at some point in the near future.
