Perseids... revisited!

Hi Jimmy
I thought I better warn you that I have mentioned the shower again in this week's Post and pointed people in the direction of last year's efforts
It probably won't come to much, but forewarned is forearmed eh?
I will certainly be praying for cloudless and clear nights anyway

Does that mean that you and TM will be out watching the skies again?
I'm going to be away at the beach from Saturday through Wednesday, but I'll try to compile the results and post them by Thursday morning.
Unlike Mark Moxon, when I go to the beach, I don't take my laptop with me. (besides, my wife would kill me!)

Perseids... revisited!

Did you know that Holland, especially the part I live in now, is deemed to be one of the countries with the worst light-pollution in the world Too many people crammed into such a small space is one reason... the other is wasteful street-lighting! Once I have mastered the language better I may start a campaign to try and improve the second problem!
I am hoping to catch some meteors if possible, although the weather is alternating between clear blue sky and torrential rain and thunderstorms!
Someone should write an article about the changing face of the weather!
Have a good break... the beach sounds like an ideal place for sky-watching.

Only about half true. Out to sea the sky isn't so bad, but inshore with all the hotels, bars and amusement parks crammed into a small area the sky is a lovely shade of orange.
My daughter and I are going to stay up *very* late before we leave for the trip and watch the sky from home. That way she'll sleep for most of the boring car ride.

Ahah! I know what you mean about that shade of orange!
A sounds plan with your daughter though... I have used that trick plenty of times!
I have put a 'stop press' bit in TP and directed them to the page anyway... maybe nothing will come of it but still worth a try
