G'day Di,
my kids were born in Glasgow and Birmingham. Grand kids in Newcastle(NSW) and Brisbane. I came out here in the late 60's and have never been out of Oz since. It took me 30'odd countries to get here! I've lived where I am for 27 years and I don't think I will be moving from here. Just love Oz and everything about it. Even my mother-in-law is well located, about 15k awaysmiley - spider. Another 37C. today, we had a late storm, plenty of crash bang but no rain.

g'day lugworm

I also left the Uk in the 60's but returned to the UK in 75

It took me a long time to adjust to the Uk and a while to lose the Aussie twang it still appears now and then especially when I speak to my daughter in Sydney, or my good friend in Melbourne.

If it wasn't for my marriage breaking up and havi 3 children to bring up on my own I probably still be in Oz

Had good memories but I have seen more of Oz since I left.

G'day Di,
I thought I had an intruder for a minute there. I feel sad at the thought of ever leaving here. Probably my contentment comes fron seeing many different places, I don't know. I have never had any inclination to return to the UK for a vist even. Some of my sisters (there is a whole tribe of them) come to vist me on a fairly regular basis, mum came out in the early stages but shes a bit past it now. I became an Oz citizen after I had been here two years, just to feel safe that they couldn't get rid of me!smiley - spider It's worth staying just for the weather. Oh! and the beer is not bad either, and brass monkeys are safe.

G'day Di,
Nothing worse than tooth ache, been there done that! I think the ones I have left are to hard and old to rot, I hope so anyway. My wife has a cracked tooth at the moment and the debate is whether to have it pulled or not, it doesn't ache all the time, and the dentist wants half of the National Debt to fix it, with no gaurantee it will last. I reckon it will get pulled eventually.smiley - spider Been hot again today but is begining to cool off a bit, another month and we will be over the worst.
Good luck and happy chewing!

G'day Di'
Glad your are back to full chewing power! Nevermind our nice weather, we have had REAL bad electrical storms for the last 3 days. Lights flicking on and off, dogs shaking and crying, deafening thunder and possibly 5 drops of rain and it's still air conditioningly hot. I keep telling myself another month and it will be more bearable. What would we do if we didn't have the weather to complain about? Australia day long weekend this weekend which is good, as you probably remember we get a good issue of public holidays, about 12 I think; not complaining about then though! smiley - spider New puter sounds good. My mate made this one up for me. I have had a computer of one sort or another for nearly 20 years but I have only bothered to get on the web in the last 12 months or so. I thought it better to learn my way around before I get to old!

hiya Lugworm

well it finally arrived with a vengence blizzards of snow around 5.00pm yesterday thank goodness I was off work today..
It seems that you are experiencing strange weather too!! storms mostly electrical though.

We are going onto broadband 10x faster than dial up on the pc, then that will also untie the phone as well

I'm using my digibox at the moment thro' cable tv with my infa-red keyboard

well hope this finds you and yours well, back to work tomorrow so I will sign off and wait for your next message, it is like waiting for my fishpond to thawsmiley - grr

G'day Di,
Broadband sounds good, my son has it, I can’t afford it! Dial up only costs 240 or so a year BB costs about 4 times that, maybe when it comes down in price a little I will think about it. Digi boxes we don’t have yet so I don’t really understand what they are, other than what I have picked up by talking on h2. It seems that the advances in computer technology travels faster than the speed of light, I can’t even keep up with the terminology and jargon used. Us old fellas like to make haste slowly!smiley - spider
I have been watching the news reports of the UK weather I feel so sorry for anyone having to live in such conditions, I suppose people feel sorry for us suffering over 30C temperatures.
I had never thought about the poor fish in fishponds, I feel sorry for them too. smiley - cat

The weather has become milder now bringing with it the rain causing some flooding in Wales but not here thank goodness..

It would have been nice to tidy up the garden but that is a big NO! NO!
the spring bulbs are poking thro' at the moment the fish are enjoying the the weather and some food, even the birds are chirping away..
the start of a new much welcomed year in the garden...but we must not be too hasty just yet...I'm sure there is still some bad weather to come

Hope everything is smiley - ok with you and yours

G'day Di,
Nice to be back in action, I have visited the anagram sites and had my fix, so I'm feeling better now, stupid as I am I had no backup so I lost everthing. I've been hard at it trying to get business things straightened out, not to worry smiley - spider. Sorry to hear you are still suffering with your back. Been there and done that, for too many years I suffered with back ache, never a day without pain, until a few years ago I decided to get treatment for the arthritis in my shoulders, arms, hands etc. Doctor gave me a pill to take daily - no more back ache! Didn't do a lot for the arthritis though! Just good to be rid of the back ache. You've had a bad run, toothache then backache, I hope the next thing to get you is a bit of 'spring fever', won't be long and you will have the sunshine to cheer you up!

G'day Di,
Glad you are back on deck I was begining to wonder what had happened to you. It's getting a bit cooler here now, thankfully, below 30c today, much more comfortable! It's autumn now so I suppose it's spring in the UK lucky you! or will you have to wait awhile before it warms up a bit? Must be a worry having you car attacked, I don't know where these people get their pleasure; luckily our vehicles have never been touched. Hope I haven't spoken too soon! smiley - spider
I never think much about work, I only have a week of every couple of years or so and I don't seem to do to bad on it, I think retirement frightens me. Is that possible? Maybe I'm just mad. smiley - smiley
Good luck.
