Did it really look that alarming?

I mean, really?
Pulled me up a bit, actually; you get used to particular clashes over time, and learn to navigate them, but it would be a shame if the unwary got frightened off.
Member can be a bit frightening if you don't know him, and Justin too, but I don't think they frighten each other. If they did, they wouldn't have been at it for so long.
Although M has putatively only been around for four months he is widely believed to be a "reincarnation" of another researcher, and *that* conflict goes back to Justin's first arrival here in June 2002.
I've been around about the same length of time, and az since March 2003, so we all know each other pretty well (which can be a bit intimidating in its own way, remembering my experience as a newbie).
Anyway, rambling a bit now, so I'll push off.

Given what I've seen in the backlog, yes, it did.
I'm not personally afraid of Member; you can find me debating with him earlier in the thread, hopefully not showing signs of nerves. However, I am afraid of the possibility of explosions. I know I'm thick-skinned; I either know or can reasonably suppose the same of others whom I've encountered before; but I can't assume that about everyone here, and I'd sooner try to calm things down than (a) let fires rage and bitterness take hold or (b) just go straight for the Yikes! button.
