Hi there, Phreak! I'm Whoami? an Ace, and I'm just popping by on my travels to welcome you to the fantastic resource and community that is h2g2!

What you say about normality being an illusion is so true - after all, now that everyone's dressing like skateboarders etc. to try not to conform to the norm, haven't they become the norm?

Besides, I digress. You want to know about how to use this wonderful site. I haven't checked how much the lovely Kess has told you, so if it's OK, I'll start from the beginning.

You've probably already seen the <./>Welcome</.> page, and you have agreed to the <./>HouseRules</.>. These two pages will help you to get along in the vast cavern of h2g2.

If I had to describe h2g2, I'd liken it to a small town where you know a lot of the people that you bump into, but there are loads that you rarely come across. In fact, there are enough places to hang out within the site that there are whole sub-communities that I am still not familiar with after two and a half years here. Those, you must find for yourself. Meanwhile, one thing that everyone is at least aware of at some point is the purpose of the site - to create a massive community-written and edited online guide to Life, The Universe and Everything. For this, I'd check <./>Read</.>, <./>Talk</.> and <./>Contribute</.> - oh, and the <./>Smiley</.> directory pages - there are loads of smileys for you to use in postings, including and many more!

Besides that, I'd recommend reading <./>ThePost</.> - the community newspaper which appears each Thursday. It's a great way to find out about some of the big issues and interests here at h2g2!

Ok then. i would have replied earlier but I got distracted by my 12 year old brother coming into the room riding a tricycle and juggling. I mean, I know i say that stuff about normality being an illusion, but that is a little odd, isn't it?!
