Alcoholism

Hi,
This is the hardest thing I ever have had to write.
I started drinking at the age of 16yrs my boyfriend was 18yrs at the time it was through him the drinking started.
I went out 7 nights a week and the meeting place was at the pub so it was inevitable that the drinking began.
Not so much at first as we were a gang of motorbikers and believe it or not, two pints of lager and no more passed our lips.
We did believe in not drinking and driving.
Then as we all started to seperate our motorbiking lives and settling down to marry and start familys changed our ways.
I married at 19yrs we still went out with the gang till I became pregnant at 23yrs then I stopped the drinking altogether.
After giving birth to my first daughter I did not drink again till she was 3mnth.
Dont get me wrong I did not drink much or heavy only drank when I got the chance for a night out & the odd couple of drinks.
When my second daughter was born feb/80 I still hardly went out or had a drink.
I didnt work stayed home looked after them both full time, there dad still went out and carried on as normal.
When they both were at school I found my freedom
I know not a nice thing to say but meant in the nicest way.
I began meeting old friends, going out and found myself being a person again not just a wife and mum.
Then it started gradually at first the odd drink during the day with friends.
Then wanting the drink more and more.
Not going out to meet the friends but going out to buy the drink then staying home to drink it.
It continued till my marriage broke up then the realality hit all was left was my kids.
I sobered up and still now to this day im still sober.
I can have the occasional drink only when in company I never will get to the point of over drinking or drinking on my own as tempting as it is.
Its true believe me even seeing drink advertised makes you want that drink so badly.
If you are not an alcoholic you are so lucky cause the life of one hurts....
