I know it is the christian god because i feel it when i go to a christian church. That is why i believe christ is god.
Maybe i should have written "what you believe" other than "belief system"?
Anyway happy new year.
may love keep you and happiness surround you. ruth

You amaze me. I saw an interpretation like this in a Fist of Fun annual (http://www.fistoffun.net/book/85.htm), but then I expected it from comedians. I didn't say anything about it - it was comedy, and I wouldn't have suspected a person on the face of the earth to take that interpretation seriously.
THE SON WAS FORGIVEN BECAUSE HE WAS GENUINELY SORRY ABOUT WHAT HE HAD DONE! If he'd gone back and said, "Hi Dad. I'm finished now. It was always my plan to come back once I'd done all the bad stuff I wanted to, and I don't regret it for a second", it is somewhat less likely that he would have been forgiven. The average four-year-old can understand this without it needing to be explained. Why can't you? I know you have the intelligence to do so. I can only assume that you deliberately try to avoid understanding these things.
To give the explanation of the other illustrations mentioned, equally simple though they are, therefore seems futile.

hi minniemouse,
happy new year to you to!
I came across this passage in a Terry Pratchett book I am reading at the moment - I also posted it on another thread as it seemed appropriate. I'll post it here for you too as it says, in a humourous yet I think kinda real way, how I see Phred:
"Wizards don't believe in gods in the same way that most people don't find it necessary to believe in, say, tables. They know they're there, they know they're there for a purpose, they'd probably agree that they have a place in a well-organised universe, but they wouldn't see the point of *believing*, of going around saying, 'O great table, without whom we are as naught'. Anyway, either the gods are there whether you believe it or not, or exist only as a function of the belief, so either way you might as well ignore the whole business and, as it were, eat off your knees." (Terry Pratchett)
