Dear Barbara
Camp 4a Stalag 1B was just one of nearly 300 German POW Camps, not all are fully documented. I recommend you read "The Colditz Myth - The Real Story of POW Life in Nazi Germany" by S.P. MacKenzie(published by Oxford University Press, 2004). The account given in the book of all aspects of POW life holds good for Camp 4a Stalag 1B.
Regards,
Peter

Thanks for the info Peter,i will try and get a copy of the book.I have been given the name of another book but i fear it is published in French, the Author is Henri Laloux published 1977 isbn no: 2840481081,the title is:Avril 1945 Libere par L'Armee rouge. It is all about his time as a pow in Stalag 1B and been liberated by the Russians in January 1945.Have you read or heard of this book.
