Hi Peter.
You are well I hope, whilst idly browsing I noticed that you had some interest in the liberation of the Channel ports in 1944 by the Canadians. I wondered if you had read or come across a book called "Flamethrower" published by Fontana paperbacks and written by a troop commander of a "Crocodile Troop" he was in support of Canadian troops in the liberation of the Channel ports and then went on into Germany. He gives some very interesting details on the use of flamethrowers and some quite good photographs.. It may well be out of print now. His unit was a county regiment and had some stage he won the M. C. In the last two or three pages he remarks "we knew the war was over as the RS M. had lines drawn on the barrack square and all the vehicles lined up".
I hope this is of interest to you.
Regards.
John Absolon .
