Hi Peter,
Did you see the programme on BBC4 last night about Dunkirk. It purported to end the myth of "The Victory of Dunkirk". To some extent it did but at the end of the programme I could not believe my ears when the commentator said that as the last troops left Dunkirk, the French were now completely on their own facing the Germans. After all that has been said from various authors of posts to this website I felt very angry. Prior to his evacuation from Cherbourg my Father's company fought side by side with the French to try and hold the base of the Cherbourg peninsula and that is only one story.
What do you think?
Regards, Marjorie
ps it was very interesting reading Harry Hargreaves account, in fact he sent me a post at exactly the same time as I did him. The Scottish Regiment he talked about where the soldiers stayed behind to help the French were the 5th KOSB
