wtf is happening with the black smoker article ( http://www.h2g2.com/A218594 ), is this the first process along the road to approval, it is now uneditable, why?, it now says that it is only 16hrs old, does this kick it back to the end of the queue? The editing is good, I suppose I should of changed it to GuideML ages ago. So what happens from here?, sorry about the rapid fire questions, and the general ramblings, but this is the first time an article has been noticed by the staff, so I am a bit inquisitive.

And another thing!!
I'll bet you don't want to see another entry about Pennsylvania for about a year! Seriously, thanks for giving all those entries your attention, I hope they didn't kill you with boredom. I'm kind of fanatical about my home state (as you may have guessed) and I spend lots of my free hours taking my family to interesting sites across the state. Sometimes they even go with me without being dragged kicking and screaming!
Again, thanks for the edits!!

Jimi X, you have approved articles etc. is this how it starts? Do you know the answers to my other questions (see above)? Could you please end my misery at being in the dark here.....please.

You should be getting an email in the very near future when it is ready to be entered into the Approved Guide. Yes, you've made it!!
From here, you've just got to wait until it hits the front page, and only TPTB know when that will be. (They assure us there is a plan!)
It comes up like this for you and the Sub-editor to look over it one last time before it is Approved. If there would be some horrible mistake, then you could contact the Sub and he/she could contact TPTB and get it fixed before final Approval. You cannot edit it any longer because it is in the pipeline and if you make changes, they might not be incorporated into the Approved Entry or more importantly, might screw up the Approved Entry.
Hope that answers the questions!

Don't worry, Crescent, Black Smokers happen to be a favourite topic of mine and I loved the article. Thing is, we process submitted articles in batches, not one by one, and some of the others in this batch are not so easy to deal with. I also happen to be *slightly* busy right now (ie this is the first time I've been home for a week, and I have had a total of 7 hours sleep in the last 4 days), but panic not, all will be finished very shortly, I promise

Jimi, it was a pleasure. I wondered how you knew so much about Pennsylvania! Actually I found them fascinating...

I am sorry to hassle you when you were so busy, but I was just worried etc. Now, get some sleep

Sleep?
I dream of sleep.
Today I sorted out my divorce, lost my job, met an old girlfriend and got very drunk. And it's still only 03:46 am. I wonder what the rest of the day will bring?

....sorry to bother you again and I hope things are running better for you Just a wee point, the article, just approved by the guide, Selection Rhymes http://www.h2g2.com/A271775 needs the Researcher area updated. It includes all the people who were kind enough to donate the rhymes from their childhood, but I seem to be missed out If you can sort this I would be most grateful

Sorry about the delay, Crescent. You ain't gonna believe this but I just got back from a skiing holiday to find my girlfriend in hospital having major surgery... is this some kind of Soap Opera or what? Anyway, I haven't done anything to the excellent Childhood Selection Rhymes article myself since subeditting it, but it appears that all the correct researchers are currently credited on the right hand side of the Entry. Does it look OK to you now? Or do you think something is still missing? If so, I'd be grateful if you could mail me direct [email protected]

Crescent Posted Mar 23, 2000
I hope your g/f gets well soon, and it was nothing serious (well major surgery is always serious, but not deadly serious I hope) I will stop rambling before I put my foot in it. Yes all the researchers are credited - but me, I am not mentioned, my ego needs my name in lights Jimi X is also looking into it for me (I did wait for over a week before calling him And I hope you enjoyed your skiing holiday, got to dash, work calls

*Hangs head in shame*
While I rigorously checked that all the contributing researchers had been credited, I rather stupidly didn't notice that your name was missing. I guess I kind of assumed that it would be there, as that part is all automated.
Sorry.
Unfortunately I have no idea how it happened, so I'll leave you in Jimi's capable hands.
*slopes shoulders vigorously*
Good luck...
