Better news
Posted Nov 28, 2006
What a horrid day yesterday was.
Apart from the weather. which was miserable, I had a stream of phone calls from the local Mental Health Team telling me that my brother had slammed the door in their faces, in the face of the the District Nurses, in the face of his cleaner, and then again the face of the Mental Health Team and that he had done the same thing on Sunday. When I asked all these people why no-one had phoned me they just ignored the question.
In the meantime I had sent a long fax to my darling baby brother In New York and to the various other siblings who are very keen to tell me what to do, but sadly can never do anything themselves.
And last night, when absolutely no-one had phoned me from the Mental Health team, I phoned my brother to be told that he had had a long talk with D's GP.
The news was much better that he expected - or than I had been led to expect. I was under the impression that D. would be sectioned this morning.
No wonder carers also go bats!!
Anyway, thanks to so many of you , Websailor, Shea and so many others who have given me so much comfoort and support I have survived.
I am beginning to think that that is why the good Lord has kept me going through so many rather life threatening illnesses. Just to give me the vocation of caring for my darling son and bbrother.
With much moore hope - I must not forget that it springs eternal!!

I must now remember to go and get my hearing aids repaired. I have been very deaf for the last two weeks - ever sice they both gave up the ghost!!.

To friends, old and new,
We wish you one and all,
The joy of a family
To share to the full.
The fruits of the earth,
And the birds and the beast,
To help you to celebrate
A wonderful feast.
What a wonderful way to say thank you to one's country and homeland.
Have a great day.
With much affection to you all

Emergency Operation operation
Posted Nov 20, 2006
Last Friday night, the 17th November my dear brother, who also suffers from a chronic mental illness was rushed to hospital in Maidstone for an emergency urinary tract operation. For the first tow days he was fine but now all he wants to do is to leave hospital.
I have told him that I simply cannot care for him, and that he must stay until all the infection is gone and that he will then be able to go to a lovely recuperation home near us. Goodness knows how I am going to get him to accept it. It will not be easy.
Poor fellow. He has not had much of a life that is for sure.
Hope you can spare a few prayers for his speedy recovery.

I wonder if it would be feasible to start a new feature club on the
"Caring of House Plants in Cold Climes"
They are, after all, the only living plants inside our homes during the long winter months when we are unable to garden - or even go , out dooors.
Madame President, Hypatia, used to have a feature called
"The Cranky Gardener" and I have been able to benefit from her adivce this last week. As have some of my friends.
Is this not something that we can introduce as a tribute to our founder Douglas Noel Adams? I am sure that Sci-Fi and Growing potplants indoors in winter have some affinity.!!
We could, in this way, not only cheer up our researchers who have had a difficult time this year, but also bond with many friends who live in similar climatic conditions as our own. of course, this would also be a horticultural way of remembering DNA, who started this wonderful website.
Could I suggest that if this idea is accepted, that whoever designs the Feature entry should arrange that we can
1 enter our questions alphabetically
2 the name of the researcher
3 the date the question was asked/replied be recorded.
This would mean that we could possibly have a great many enquires for, say "poinsettia" being entered, but that all the various hints on their care would also be recorded, plus the name of the researcher who asked the question, and the name of the researcher who respondded to the cry for help.In this way, everyone's please would be recorded, and all given an equal chance of responsding to that plea.
I hope you think it is a good idea.
All comments and criticims (constructive please) gratefully received.

Creeping back....

I have been unable to get onto this website for well over a week. thank goodness. I am sure thanks to Websailor, but also thanks to the validation team, all appears to be well. Although there is still a rigmarole to get onI have alternated between being so disappointed because I cannot chat to you all, and realising that I have a lot of other things to do. Mostly they have got done.
Hopefully I shall be able to get on as soon as I type in the necessary information and not spend hours, uselessly typing in the same things and getting the same message. Strange that I do not have the same problem with my bank, the other sites that I visit like ewtn.com etc.
So many things happening today. There are the elections in the USA. I wonder what will happen. I have missed my postings from across the pond. I wonder where the happy travellers are?
Well, I must go and try and warm up.
Hopefully, I shall be able to get on again.
Incidentally I had started an Alpine Garden about two months ago. This week there were some tiny little pale blue/lilac miniature creeping veronica which were flowering in profusion. Hopefully the bitter cold tonight will not harm them as they are not called Alpine for nothing. LL. Waz had sent me a photo of some alpine miniature dafodils which she found high on a mountain in Spain. They come from all over the world. That is going to be my hobby now.
Good night/morning it is 4.05 a.m. here in Kent.
