It turns out I'm a lot worse at making one-sided conversation than I thought I would be! I often think of you and wonder how you're doing, but I'm at a loss for stuff to say to you, other than to send you spammy links.
I certainly don't want to pressurise you into communicating, so I thought I'd start this fresh thread as my new-leaf attempt at conversation with you. Its purpose is solely to let you know you're on my mind and I care. (But don't hold your breath for much eptness on my part!)

You know, Gothly is a lot less tolerant than I am, and that's a good thing: without Gothly, my house would be full of stray animals and stray people, and I would be going absolutely spare.
But we had Philosopher Friend staying over last night: he's living the vagrant life these days. This morning, he's ill; seems to have a temperature. Gothly says we can't afford to have someone with 'flu staying with us, and it's a good point: with our M.E., we suffer really badly when we catch viruses. But I know that the only other place where Philosopher Friend can stay tonight is in a house whose ground floor is flooded, inhabited by a violent alcoholic cocaine addict who's really wound up because she's just had an abortion. I want Philosopher Friend to stay here another night and be properly fed and stuff, but there's no question of that: he must leave in half an hour.

It turned out for the best in the end. I got really ill last night and wouldn't have coped with company, whereas Philosopher Friend perked up somewhat and spent the day looking for work.

Hey there. Hope you had a lovely Christmas Day and Santa brought you everything you hoped for.
SEF has been celebrating 'Cephalopodmas' and has been making these: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v101/_SEF_/cephalopodmas/octopod6.jpg. I've followed suit, doing variations on that theme, and now our tree is covered in sparkly leggy things with googly eyes.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday, and have a fabulous New Year.

I'm contemplating making some actual New Year's resolutions. Like, actual real ones that I actually stick to. Or make an effort to stick to, anyway...
Also, I have produced a beard hair from my own chin. My great grandmother had a prodigious beard. Having to kiss her was always a frightening experience. I hope to take after her one day.

You strike me as the sort of person who likes cats...

Well i'm still alive and just about coping with life
Been thinking of coming back to h2g2 but I'd have to stay away from the serious bits as the petty feuding that goes on there is just too depressing for me
Its always good to hear from you even if I don't always feel up to 2-way communication

I'm glad that you're alive and surviving.
As you can see, I haven't been here much of late myself. I've moved my journal over to LiveJournal. I agree about the serious bits; I've been avoiding those too. And the feuding seems to go right over my head these days, perhaps because I'm not meeting many new people and all the older feuds have died a death.
Don't worry about two-way communication. I quite understand.

I appear to be turning into you.
I lurk around a bit, but currently can't face writing much, if anything. I seem to be descending into some kind of, I don't know... hm.
I find myself wondering if this is what a mid-life crisis is like. Where you want to get into the car and start driving, and just keep going.
And the reason I am saying this to YOU, is that you are so very unlikely to reply.
I hope you are well, sweet thing.

I did get into a car and keep driving. Actually, I wasn't doing the driving. I was ostensibly getting a lift home, but I didn't go home. I'll tell you about it one day, I hope.
Anyway, I am currently in Greece and having a mostly fabulous time.

No but I did have my photo taken near one which I think is pretty brave
They're not what you'd call friendly creatures
