Work .....yuk!
MutantStarGoat Started conversation Sep 26, 2004
Hiya, you at work tonight as well? S'pose you must be if you're online at this hour.
Whilst it's not unusual for me to be up at this hour today is for a reason. I'm running in the Great North Run today so wish me luck 'cos although I've been described as many things, an athlete isn't one of them! This is my sixth year on the trot so you'd think I'd have learned but no, all I know is that it's going to hurt a lot and with a bit of luck I will be lifting my first bottle of brown ale at approx. 4 o clock if all goes to plan .......... in fact it's focussing on the ale that get's me through!

Yes I'm at work and will be till 8am
The best of British today mate!!! Rather you than me.......an allergic to most forms of exercise
Are you running for a good cause? If so, which one? Hope your raising lots of dosh for them
Work .....yuk!
MutantStarGoat Posted Sep 26, 2004
Yeah well, I'm allergic to most forms of exercise as well so how I got roped into this six years ago I don't know (was probably drunk!)
I'm running for The British Heart Foundation. My Dad (god rest his soul) used to raise money for them so I'm just carrying on from him.

Hello there
How did the run go today? Did you finish and how long did it take?
I didn't watch it cos I was asleep I'm afraid
Work .....yuk!
MutantStarGoat Posted Sep 27, 2004
Hiya, the run took 2:25 but considering there was a big traffic jam at the start and it took 29 mins to get the first mile out of the way that wasn't too bad.
Yes, there's another medal to go with the other 5 and when I finished I did my, now famous, "never again" speech which, apparently, I have done for the past five years
I'm paying for it now though! I'm groaning round the house like a not very sprightly 80 year old but, as usual, I've got the day off today (thank god!). The day after the GNR is the first day I book off every year.

Wow!!! I'm impressed Is it a half marathon? Hope you made plenty of dosh for your charity?
So, today is a day of rest and recuperation then? Relaxing away the aches and pains of yesterday!
Work .....yuk!
MutantStarGoat Posted Sep 27, 2004
Yeah, a half marathon which is enough for me. I can't begin to comprehend what a full marathon must be like, the people who do them really are loonys!
Can't see a lot getting done today apart from a lot of moaning & groaning
I've just had a look at the pics I took and some of 'em are pretty good so I might update my website ................ if I can get the motivation!

I couldn't even contemplate doing a half marathon........think you must be a loony too
Hope you had a long soaky Radox bath when you got home yesterday...........soothe those aching muscles a bit
You deserve a day of doing nothing and hopefully being waited on and pampered a bit as well
Work .....yuk!
MutantStarGoat Posted Sep 27, 2004
Aye well, at the end of the race & today I would completely agree with you about the loony bit!
Did manage the bath eventually after coming back from the pub. The only thing that got me through the run was thinking about that first bottle of brown ale ............... and it didn't let me down!
If I do get waited on it'll be me that does it 'cos I live alone (as the state of this place would testify). Chris (my girlfriend) & I did try & live together but that was a disaster & we had broken up within a few months. Living apart may seem a bit strange but it works for us so I suppose if it's working, don't try & fix it eh.
Speaking of being pampered I might nip round to the corner shop & treat myself to a jar of peanut butter. Champagne & oysters are ok but you can't beat a jar of peanut butter!

Yo Tsarina,
So they do let you have some time off.
Work for me was it's usual mental self with the gaffa promising things things to customers which are just about impossible but which I'll have to deliver so no change there then!
Could do with a certain six numbers eh!

Hello there
Yes I was off last night! We work a 2 week shift pattern, working 6 nights out of 7 one week and then off 6 nights out of 7 the next.........this happens to be my 6 nights on week
A certain 6 numbers would be wonderful or maybe even 5 and the bonus, but I don't think I'll be holding my breath What are the odds? Something like 14,000,000 to 1??? I'm not that lucky
How you feeling after your exertions on Sunday? Did you manage to rest on Monday?
Work .....yuk!
MutantStarGoat Posted Sep 29, 2004
14,000,000 - 1 or not, someone has to win it. Mind you, I would probably have more chance if I bought a ticket
Yeah, I was a total slob on Monday, all I did was doss around the place, watch telly & stuff me face ....... luvverly!
Back to normal now though with work and a gig on Friday (first for over a month, hope I can remember how the songs go! )

tsarina Posted Sep 29, 2004
Well at least I buy a ticket so I do stand some sort of chance
There's nothing wrong with slobbing around every now and then - am sure it's good for the soul or summat
What kind of music do you play?
BTW..........my name is Helen
Work .....yuk!
MutantStarGoat Posted Sep 29, 2004
I'll get a ticket today! ........ if I remember!
Must admit I can get pretty good at being a slob
We're a covers band playing stuff like Bryan Adams to Greenday & everything in between. There's not much we won't have a bash at but I suppose we'd be labelled as a rock/pop covers band.
Dunno if h2g2 lets you link and you're allowed to zoom about the net at work but if so it's all here ( http://www.doggyandthepuppies.com )

Morning Helen, hope you've got better weather than us here.
That's a point, whereabouts in this lovely sunny country of ours are you? (you might have told me but at my age the memory starts to go )
