money, taxes, school..

It seems there are government grants for everything. If you want to study just why someone's feet will stink at the end of a long day wearing plastic shoes, you can get a grant for it. If you want to go to school...as long as you have what they call "financial need" you can get a grant. I have tried that route though. Apparantly making just over $17,000 per year (gross) is more than I allowed to make to get a grant, go to a tech school, and make more money later (and presumably pay more in taxes).
It seems that in order to get any help from the American government a person like me would have to have a few illigitimate children, need drug rehab or just be someone on welfare. Well, I'm none of those things. So I don't have the option of a formal education. It is a depressing thought. I work 45-50 hours every week... but I don't make enough money to go to school. Only to pass by the school and see what my tax dollars are paying for. I know what they are paying for.. they are paying for many other people to get the educations they want.. and I need.
Does anyone else out there have any more ideas on how to get some legitimate money from the government??
