I find that the secret of good administration is the ability to give oneself a brevet promotion, and then act as if it's valid. For instance, I may have fooled some people into thinking I'm not a humble researcher (number 50930), because I gave myself a brevet promotion to the rank of Administrator-General. I find this to be a good survival strategy in dealing with people whose business cards say things like, "Chief Software Architect".
