Ahhh...what a nice weekend! Was at the Nuernberg Christkindlesmarkt (world famous I am told...) and it was packed! Pretty amazing and wonderful if you like shiny or delicate stuff, but not for my present tastes in presents...does that make sense?
Well there were lots of people and we walked around looking at stuff and had some Gluehwein and 1/2 metre wursts and lebkuechen and the like...all mad! Kinda like a relaxed and cold outdoor version of the Oktoberfest...but without the horribly drunk people! I might write an entry on it or something...anyone wanna help?
Going back to ireland for a couple of weeks on the 21st! I can't wait!! Guinness and christmas go SO well together!! I love the yuletide feel!!

well, I have been here in Germany for over 4 months now, and am not missing Ireland at all...
I miss the people sure, but not the country, or the excuse for public transport that is there, or the striking or anything!
just thought that I should update the ol' diary coz the last entry is on a bit of a downer and so I should bring it back up to my level of cheerfulness that I am at now...
can't wait for xmas!

Man, more bad news today. Another of my friends died on sunday. He was out rockclimbing in Glendalough in Wicklow and fell off the top of the cliff.
He is the 4th Engineer from my year to have died in the last 4 years. And all of them have died in September. All way before their time!
If you go back thru my journal, you will see that almost exactly a year and a week before, two other engineering friends died in Kenya.
Life is tough.

Ahhhh...haven't written in the old journal in a LONG time now...so I think that I had better start up again.
Well, I now live in Germany and that is a change from the rest of my life because I have lived in Ireland forever! well, it's my forever! Also, this should be a fun winter because it is my first out of Ireland also...and winters in Ireland are very mild...don't usually fall too much below -2°C ever! So here I am in a city where two years ago it was about -26°C and the Danube froze over so hard that you could walk over it!!! Well, it was slippy, but it was strong enough...
I am going to freeeeze!! And I will get to see proper snow for the first time since I was a child!! Hurrah!!
well, it is bloody late and so I am going to go to bed now...I am going to be heading to the Oktoberfest for a few hours tomorrow evening with a couple of friends who are driving there, so that should be interesting anyway...
Was the anniversary of my friends' (Mary and Caroline) deaths just a week ago. I can't believe that they are gone a year already...wierd the way that stuff (time) just flies by...
