Okay Nightfever here goes.
You obviously know far more about the Dublin pubs than I do, I've only ever got drunk in the Porter House. So, what am I asking? Well I'm redoing the Beer entry, as you may or may not know, and I could do with a hand regardind beer in Ireland. Beer includes Ales, Lagers and Stouts (yes technically Guinness is a beer, don't shout at me, I know) so what I'm asking is for a few bits of information. What's the law like regarding beer in Ireland? How old do you have to be to drink the stuff and serve the stuff? Part of the beer article is regarding the laws you see, and I would really appreciate it if you could do the entry for the emerald isle. I've got England under control, Zachsmind has provided the info for the US and others are doing where they are. Don't worry, you'll be credited for whatever you do. If you are interested, it doesn't have to be a long piece, just a brief description really. Don't post it as a user page though. If you will help, and I'd be grateful if you would, email what you write to me at [email protected]
With regards to your pub entries, I'm also getting together the article on the best pubs. You've done a lot of research in Dublin, I've read the entries. Would you be able to narrow it down to a couple that you think are outstanding? If you are, could you perhaps follow the linkon my homepage to Pubs and stick the reviews there? Or even just post them in this forum if you want.
Cheers

Right then Pastey...if that is your real name...
I mailed you a "little" article on the subject of drinking in Ireland, and it might be a bit long, so I dunno...edit away, but it's all relevant and I'll be VERY angry if you take any out...j/k
Aaaaaanyway, as for the "best pubs" thing, I'll have to do that some other time as I'm currently very hungry and so I won't be able to think straight. So, oh well...later, but I will write something for you alright...
Yes, the Porter House, a fine establishment. I love going there myself, but I only have about 3 friends who share this opinion of the place. We are, shall we say, the more adventerous (sp???) ones.
Where are you from anyway, and how often do you drink in the heart of Dublin?? Hmmm...I left out the different beers bit from the mail. I'll do that now...

I'm currently over in Ipswich.
I don't get other often at all nowadays but my mother originated in the emerald isle, so a lot of holidays when I was younger were spent there.

Cool...where was your mom from then?? Dublin or outside Dublin (the two main regions of Ireland...when you're a Dub anyway!)??

Don't hate me and don't get religous or political as I don't subscribe to that sort of thing, just remember you asked where she was from,
The Bogside, Derry
What a place to grow up eh?

Hate?? Religious?? Political??
Nah!!! The worst that I'm gonna do is call her a culchie or something from being born outside of dublin but on the Island...
I am apolitical in the extreme. Don't give a toss about all that shite up north. They're all a bunch of kids as far as I can see...incapable of any sort of resolution without feeling the need to threaten or use physical violence in order to "keep face" or something...
Load of arse anyway. 'Ra heads are THE biggest assholes when it comes to talking about the north (or most things that involve an opinion anyway...).
And as for religion...pah! A lot more harmless, but, being an engineer, I like proof of things, so I really feel that I can't believe in anything like a god, never mind a God... Damn, I'm getting all deep and stuff...right then...gotta find out about germany...gimmie a minute...
I'll mail ya...
