Hybrid
Posted Jul 12, 1999
There are those who choose one operating system or another. I always
prefered to be a realist and use both. I suppose there is much to be said about
not having the income to support two OS's, but hey if you really want to
know, or even if you don't I am going to tell you why I choose both.
I used to break it down into what I thought was simple terms. Simply put,
the Mac isn't designed for Office Applications no more than the PC shouldn't
even think about doing quality Graphics/Sound or Animation.
So, I used them in just that manner. I used the PC for all of my office
related applications and when it came time to get down to some serious
3D animation, Music or just plain designing, it was and still is MAC
all the way..........AND THEN CAME THE G3!
I must say that most all of that has changed. The pendilum is swinging
in a direction that many people I know refuse to agree with. The Mac
is coming back....With a Vengance. I have the new B&W G3 along side
my Dell Latitude Laptop. Sure habits die hard, but my TOK (Time On Keyboard)
is becoming less on the Dell and more on the Mac. I have installed Office98
on the Mac and the time has dwindled even more off of the PC. I have even
gotten to the point that I never thought I would reach. I have donated my beloved
Dell to my Fiance' who is off to Business School. HA! a hybrid......
I guess the only thing that keeps me in this category is the fact that my
work is as an IT analyst working in a Unix/NT environment. I guess
I will just have to justify the Hybrid part by thanking the PC industry
for building products that keep me employed. If the world consisted of only
Mac Products I wouldn't have a job. musashi-tokyo
