It Worked!
Posted Jun 20, 1999
At least that last one worked, but it is so frustrating to have written a piece for your journal and then loose it all when it hangs, I think I'm going to start writing in good old Notepad (the only MS program that hasn't gone wrong on me yet) and just cut and paste them over.

It's so annoying, this is the fourth journal entry I've written but the last two times the machine hung when I clicked Add Entry, is it only I that suffers from this?

These can be so difficult to write as each of us feels that they have a lot to say but where to start?
The only solution that I have found is these stupid quetions at the begining. Why write a journal anyway? I suppose that for myself it is just a desire to write. Who wants to read them? Everybody, wheteher we admit it or not we are all nosey, we love listening in to other peoples lives and hearing about there problems so that we can go away feeling a little bit more smug and self satisfied. So really that is all that journals seem to be, an eye into other peoples lives so that we can feel that our own aren't so bad. Journals and diaries have for a long time been the subject of much debate, for instance just take into account the Hitler diaries, there was a lot of fuss about those and the thing is that journals are a record of what has already happened and very rarely are used to learn to avoid problems and mistakes. But I'm going to write this one anyway, what the heck? Alothough I've found that in the past my writing has been very sporadic in both frequency and content with many deciding factors from free time to alcohol intoxication to actually having something to write about.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
