Autumn
Posted Mar 29, 2000
The season has turned. The days are now shorter than the nights, and increasingly so. The leaves are turning yellow, and falling from the trees, and Hagley Park is covered in acorns. In the mountains the subalpine plants have produced their berries, and there are dustings of snow from time to time. Winter is not here yet, but the days are numbered.

Golf success!
Posted Jan 31, 2000
Congratulations must go to Michael Campbell, who has just won the Heineken Classic in Perth by six shots. This is right on the back of wins in the New Zealand Open in Paraparaumu, and the Johnnie Walker Classic in Taiwan. Great stuff Mike. Watch out Tiger Woods!

Summer Days
Posted Jan 30, 2000
Saturday had been a washout but Sunday dawned fine. Blue skies over Christchurch. Temp climbing to 30 degrees. A good day to go to the beach. Having fun in the water, boogie boarding, body surfing. It's great to have a surf beach in the city. Back home for lunch and a rest. Wait for the heat of the day to pass. Watch the first couple of sets of the Agassi/Kefelnikov match. About 5.30 it was time for a ride on the mountain bike. Up into the Port Hills, a 1500 foot climb, and straight back down. Back home in time for the Barbeque.
