My partner is from Bookham. When I met him I had lots of preconcieved ideas about Surrey and the people who come from there. But most of them are OK if a little more insular than you find in other parts.

Surrey is a pain. It has good bits: it's relatively crime free, it has some really good pubs and good shopping. But if it's character you want, it isn't the place to go.

It depends on what kind of character you're after though. There's a pub in Abinger which is very nice, if you can find the place!
