It seems you have become the editor of one my articles (A412525 Heraldry) about 5 days ago now, how come? Why have I not heard anything from you or anyone else?

Because the editing system is rather weird and very slow... don't worry, you will get an email sent when h2g2 Towers have processed it. The system *should* be improving soon. In theory

At the moment we don't get to choose which articles we edit... we get a bunch of them handed to us on a plate. I found your article interesting anyway, it would be a good article to expand on if you have the time - at the moment it covers the basics but could explain more. For example, the meaning of different poses of creatures, and explain a few more creatures than the lion.

Is this on a volunteer basis. Who are the editors and where do the articles go? Where are all the Archangels coming out of the woodwork from? What are we voting for and who gets to vote? Ah the mysteries of the universe. WOL, JLC the TTP

Er... it's all suitably complicated. The Subeditors (edit articles), ACEs (Assistant Community Editors, welcome new people and help them), Scouts (recommend articles to the subeditors) and Gurus (answer questions about h2g2) are all volunteers recruited by the people who work at H2G2. The Guardian Angels are an unofficial group who haven't been recruited as ACEs but go round helping new people anyway.

The current system for submitting articles is either for the writer to go to the Scout's submissions page and mention it there, or for a Scout to stumble across it and mention it themselves. There was a system where you pushed a button to recommend an article but they've taken that away now, the Scouts decide which ones are recommended.

If you're interested in helping with any of this, there are pages to sign up to volunteer for any of these, I think there's a link from the front page.

The voting thing is another unofficial thing. We're electing a President of H2G2; but the president will have no power or anything, it's just a fun pointless take-off of the American elections this summer.
