Greetings Peregrin...!!!
Nice Page
You might not know me without my halo & robes, but I thought, I would pop over in smart casual attire...
You expressed interest in doing a sitcom. I've got a few ideas, but I let you go first...
What kind of comedy/shows do you like ?
What kind of Sitcom would you like to create (plot, style, characters, media 'etc'...)
How would you like to tackle it ?
I would like to put something else together for the Post, I think it would be good publicity so we can gather more like minded souls together. What do you think ?
BTW I previously contacted Peta for the World of H2G2, so I think it should get a plug on the homepage this or next week. Hopefully, then we will get a core of talented people together...

Hi there, Grand Oral Disseminator... (G.O.D., from a Faithless song)
Sorry I haven't got back to you sooner, v. busy at the moment...
A sitcom for the Post sounds a good idea but I think it would be a lot of work. At the moment I'm trying to pour my online energies (that sounds vaguely Buddhist but it's just a figure of speech! ) into subediting and H2G2 Fiction, and don't have much time for anything else really, at least not something as regular as that.
I wouldn't mind contributing to such a project but wouldn't have time for a weekly publication.
I personally was thinking of doing some kind of sketch thing, like Monty Python or the Fast Show. (Are you British? If not you probably don't know what I'm talking about ) Maybe a radio based thing, like BBC4's Weekending (that was on a while ago, I don't know if it's still around) because radio is a relatively easy medium to get published in. Even if it's a late night show on an obscure radio station it'd still be an achievement, even more fun if it's a community effort.
If we produced good material we could always get a few H2G2 actors together and record it for TV... with some of the 'comedy' rubbish they put on TV nowadays I think we may have a chance
I don't know how practical all this is, it's just something I've been thinking about for a while.
One thing I do know is that writing sketches or sitcoms to be read on paper (or on a computer monitor) is an awful lot harder than playing it on radio or TV, in terms of making people laugh. Think about some of the jokes from TV sitcoms... if they were written down in a joke book, would you still laugh at them? (I think this is the reason why joke books are so bad)
Of course my opinions are often completely wrong, so don't let me disillusion you Perhaps if we got a group of people together, and gave them a blank page and see what they come up with, it may well work. I think that if you do start something, start with a very broad mind, don't narrow it down to a sitcom. The best ideas evolve
and you don't know what you'll end up with!

Hi, back again
I think we are nearly of the same mind, which is rather spooky
I was hoping things might go from Post Article/Radio Sketch Show/Sitcom. I simply took it from your first response over at the page that you wanted to do a Sitcom first...
As the page is currently getting a mention over at the main page, hopefully a core of about 5-6 people might surface so nobody has to do too much work every week. I will volunteer to edited for starters. If it gradually gets impetious from the beginning, hopefully it will snowball from there.
It's a nice idea about getting some of the thespians to put some of it into a material form for radio Once enough material has accrued on the pages, who knows, we all might be working together at the Beeb...
BTW I'm from the land down-under like the stand-up guy, but rest assured the 250+ tapes of British Comedy virtually make me British by default...

I just sent the following to Jester.
It might be a good idea to send it to people who we think are funny here, then we might get people with roughly the same sense of humour...

Hello...
Given that you have made me laugh of late. I thought, I would come over and invite you over to the H2G2 Comedy Workshop

We are trying to unite all the mirth-makers into one big happy disfunctional family, who would sell their soul to have more funny lines than their siblings...
BTW This is a chain letter. If you don't immediately send it to two people who have made you laugh on-line here. Rest assured, we will send the 'Boyz' around to 'hit' you with so many punch-lines, it's painful...
I mean, you should see what they do with the rubber chicken...
You have been warned...
It's no joke...
