Hmmmm.
I may have asked this already, but have you seen the South Park tribute to Monty Python? (Assuming you have seen and know South Park)

No, I have not. I am assume you are referring to the South Park shown on Comedy Central with the construction-paper animated, four crazy tikes who say the most amazing things. Please explain. It sounds like it would be rather interesting. I don't really equate the humor of South Park with Monty Python, even though some of the stuff on South Park is amusing.

Yes, that's the one.
It was a take on the Dead Parrot sketch, but it was a Dead Friend sketch smiley - smiley
I can't remember exactly, but I think Kyle dragged Kenny (dead) into a pet shop, with Cartman as the shopkeeper, and they proceeded to argue about whether he was dead or not. It was very funny assuming you saw the Python's dead parrot sketch.
I agree, South Park isn't as funny by far, but apparently the creators are big Monty Python fans and got a lot of inspiration from them.

I can understand it. Monty Python has come up with much brilliance. Their humor brings much joy into life. I hope their legacy lives on for a while. I wouldn't mind seeing that adaption to that skit.
One time on Saturday Night Live, John Cleese and Michael Palin performed that skit. I believe it was sometime in the last year or so. I believe they abbreviated the skit slightly, but it was still cool to see.
Sorry I haven't written in a while. We had spring break. It was nice. Hope things are going well for you.

Being an ignorant Englishman, I'm curious about 'Spring break'... is it a holiday in the middle of the spring? We have holidays at Christmas, Easter and the summer, and I kind of assume you do too, but... Spring break?

I will be happy to explain then. The primary and secondary schools I have attended have lengthened the break from school around Easter to between 1 week and ten days. I believe this is fairly common practice around the USA. In college, we receive a spring break in the middle of our second semester. It was ten days. We also get a few days off at Easter as well.
College spring breaks are characterized by trips to warmer, exotic climates where one meets beautiful women, and through the magic of alcohol establishes meaningful, lasting relationships for one night(sarcasm implied). In reality, many college students flock to southern beaches and hang out with the many other students there. I, however, went home, a place not in an exotic, warm climate, and looked for a summer job. I also went to a basketball tournament with my dad. The team we were supporting won, so we were happy.
I must say, I feel clueless when reading many of the articles in this guide, as a result of the strong British influence. One of the daily articles not too long ago was on the distinction between "pants" and "trousers." I tried to follow the discourse, but it was difficult. However, I would like to say that I am learning new things.

I often wonder if a large number of people are alienated from H2G2 because of the language barrier... as far as I know, H2G2 is written solely in English.
As for the American English / British English problem, it makes a change for the Americans to have to work out what's going on instead of us English being confused, like in the rest of the web! smiley - winkeye

Recently in one of my classes we have been reading about cricket. Before reading this book, I had never really understood the game. The book was really interesting. It is called Beyond a Boundary by CLR James. It talks about cricket in the West Indies as well as England. I enjoyed the book and learning about cricket. With regards to the language barrier, I want to say I saw one entry written in another language, so I think a few people are trying to reach out to other cultures. It probably is difficult though.

I've never really got into Cricket myself. I've played it occasionally but don't know the rules. It's not as popular here as people think! smiley - winkeye I think the real English national sport is football... (sorry, soccer!) ... everybody's mad on it here.
Among the ACEs we've been trying to find out who can understand what languages, so we can be a bit more friendly to international visitors. However I think that all people who get as far as registering with H2G2 can speak English anyway.

One day I'll get round to learning another language smiley - smiley. I only know English. It's a classic British thing actually - all my European friends despair about the fact that they go to such trouble to learn English when they come to Britain, but the British expect them to understand English when we go to their countries!

I do enjoy soccer/football. I played on my high school team. Actually, I should be more specific, I rode the bench on my high school team. I do think it is a great sport. I wish we would get more excited about it. This past summer I did enjoy watching some of the women's world cup.
I believe we Americans have the same attitude towards other languages. Everyone should know English, but why should we learn other people's languages. Oh well. Such is life.
