Boffo, a good one. It looked like being another Ferrari procession when Michael Schumacher disappeared into the lead and Rubens Barrichello moved up into second to hold everyone else up, but David Coulthard put paid to that by sneaking past Barrichello and setting off in hot pursuit of Schumacher. After a bit of effort and some interesting hand gestures, DC forced his way past and into the lead, where he remained.

Some more dodgy Ferrari pit work saw Barrichello slip back behind Hakkinen, who went on to overtake Schumacher for second place, shortly before the German's engine blew up in surprise. The McLarens took first and second, Barrichello held on for third, and Jacques Villeneuve achieved his best result in living memory, finishing fourth ahead of Ralf Schumacher. Ten points for DC, no points for Schumi - game on!

And hurrah!

I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw DC hustle up the inside of the chicane - I have never seen him pull off such a courageous, aggressive move. And then I realised Schuey had a blown engine.

Even so, Schumacher should definitely be pulled up over that incident - even though DC got past Shuey banged wheels and had him right over the kerb - when DC had already won the corner (definition - being alongside and inside at the peak of the turn). It's ok to defend aggressively (and let's ignore the controversy over recent Schumacher starts), but when you've lost the corner, you can't try to squeeze the other driver off the track. Token points deduction and a formal warning methinks.

But you're forgetting something - Schumi is like bus drivers and taxi drivers, in that he seems to have a licence to do absolutely anything without fear of punishment.
