Hello and welcome to the wonderful community of h2g2 , also called 'hootoo '
I am your <./>ACE</.> and have come to meet you and to greet you and to help you with your first steps on this site.
First things first :
, there's always somebody near to help you with whatever your problem might be. For example you can reply to this message and/or ask me a question by simply pressing the reply button. Or you can click on the name above this message, which will bring you directly to my Personal Space ( recommended ), where you can leave a message for me.
Emmily has created a shiny new page : h2g2 in a nutshell here A8468742
Feisor has set up a wonderful page with hints and links, so please, go and explore them here: A719840
Things you should know before you start :
This is an open forum, so everything you post can be seen by everybody else, and you cannot delete it, nor can you correct it once it is sent. This is where the 'preview' button below your answering box comes in handy
The only thing you can edit or delete, is any guide entry you create,( go here for more info : A53209 ) which includes the introduction on your Personal Space.
If you reply to this message and tell me a bit about your interests, I can most certainly point you directly to the best places to go.
This is where I would explain a few site-specific things, but my friend said it was too long, so I'll wait until you ask
Take your time, have a look around the site, and enjoy yourself
P.S. I'm certainly prone to having forgotten something vital to you, so please don't be shy, hit the reply button below this message

LOL Bel, thanks for the intro and don't worry about writing long 'uns, I'm doing that all the time
I've hung around one or two forums for a year or so, I think netiquette isn't going to be much of an issue, but creative writing, hmmm, whats that???? Think I'll go through some of those threads. Saw the link on the welcome page somewhere.
Uhmm, no editing??? Why's that? 'Coz I frequently shoot through my boot, so to speak
Oh dang, gtg, mom's calling. I'll write more later.
Cyc.

Hi cyc, if you like writing, this really is the place for you
There are different forums for different types of entries, non-fictional entries could be fit for the edited guide, others would be fit for the AWW <./>writing-alternative</.> or <./>thepost</.> maybe.
>>Uhmm, no editing??? Why's that? 'Coz I frequently shoot through my boot, so to speak <<
That's why we have the preview button, cause once posted, it can only be hidden or removed if somebody presses the button.
For further info, read: A11284193 Post-post Remorse
There are a lot of brilliant entries to be found here, hope you'll enjoy reading some of them.

Bel, I notice you've got a sig, how do I change/add mine?
ACE's Hi
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted May 15, 2006
Sig ? You mean the bit that's after my name ? Go into 'my preferences' and add it in the boy that says. Nickname, then click'update details' and bingo

No problemo, and thanks for the tip. Wanted 'Eater of Small Children' to look a little more comically menacing, though

Since you're an Ace, and since you respond faster than I can open a new page (is h2g2 really that slow or is it something with my rig?) you've probably got a bunch of additional features, right? Are you online the whole day, too?
ACE's Hi
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted May 15, 2006
h2 is very slow at the moment, no idea what's going on again
It's my day off today, so I'll be online for most of it, I guess.
What do you mean by 'additional features' ? Need help with guide ml for your page ?
ACE's Hi
Cyclone_13 - Simnut and Eater of Small Children Posted May 15, 2006
Additional features, like something that tells you who's new etc etc. Y'know, something like a moderator on forums.
ACE's Hi
aka Bel - A87832164 Posted May 15, 2006
To be honest, I have no idea about moderators on forums.
I'm just one of many ACEs, and we don't have any features that you don't have

Hiya Bel, wotup? I was just wondering, how come you had today off? I mean, its monday, right, and most sadistic governments and corporations are kinda hesitant about giving holidays on such dreadfully boring days like monday.
Come to think of it, are you married? Or rather, are you single? This isn't a pass, seeing as I'm a whole 16 years old. Nah, its just that I could do with some major help with matters regarding the female of the species. Why, for instance, are the lookers also (a) The byatches, and/or/but usually and (b)The dumpkopfs?? Or atleast, on the other side of the planet from where you're probably sitting.
Wierd, some of them get. Real pissing, too.
More later
I was going through your personal space (since you're my guide, i figured it'd be the logical place to start), pretty cool thing you've got there, I was wondering what a musehome is?
kay, rant off

How come you weren't at school this morning ? I'm working on a rota, that's why I was off today.
I'm three times as old as you are, and I have asbsolutely no idea about girls your age,
But where do you get the prejudices from, I wonder ? My nice is about your age, she's a looker, she's very intelligent, and she's not at all byatchy.

ACE's Hi
Cyclone_13 - Simnut and Eater of Small Children Posted May 15, 2006
This side o' the planet, sweet home India, lookers tend to be very (how can I get this in bold, btw?) byatchy :D
And i'm 16, just passed outta 12th grade 2 months back, writing my college entrance exams right now. So no school, only work-at-home. Not doing much of that, though.
Three times my age, perfect. Now we can talk without me worrying about putting my foot in my mouth, or, indeed, any other orifice. And could I get a pic of your niece, pl?

'Kay, its 20 minutes past midnight, I'm grabbing some sleep. See you in 14, Bel.

ACE's Hi

This is plain text, you can't get anything in bold, or different colours or italics or whatever, this only works in guide ml ( recommended to create your PS in )
I'm sorry, you're too young for my niece, she's 17
