My name is Feisor and I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) here at h2g2. It's my job to welcome you to the site and hopefully show you around a little. I AM a real person, not an automated reply not an automated reply not an automated reply .
Welcome to h2g2 – not just the friendliest on-line community but an incredibly huge, living, breathing guide to Life, the Universe and Everything. It’s compiled by researchers just like you and it's something YOU can take part in. You can write entries on all manner of subjects, and if it's something you think would look good in our Edited Guide (where all the best research goes), you can submit it to Peer Review Take a look at the <./>writing-guidelines</.> for more information on that.
I hope when you get to know us a little better you'll open your personal space and tell us a little about yourself - but there's no rush - and it's not compulsory
We ACEs are volunteers here to assist new researchers so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
You can leave a message on my space just by clicking on my name at the top of this message or by hitting the reply button below - it won't hit back (usually).
I have made a "Hints and Links for New Researchers" page at <./>A719840</.> - if you go there it will lead you to all sorts of places which will help find your way around and get to know this wonderful place. It should keep you busy for a while
Oh, and don’t forget to bookmark not only your space but the H2G2 <./>FrontPage</.> - it’s a great way to stay in touch with what’s happening and leads to all sorts of corners which you may otherwise miss.
I am sure that you will love this community as much as we do There's lots of things to see, clubs to join and people to meet - please don't be shy - just jump right in - this is a friendly place. But be careful - it can become quite addictive - believe me I know
Enjoy!!
Have fun!!!
and above all !!!
Feisor

Hello and thank you for your message.
Odd though that it is still incompatible with an account setup on the more traditional BBC Boards, I already had an ID but because it was setup on Radio 5 Live Boards it wouldn't allow me to create Journals on the new Boards - actually I can see advantages with having more than one ID from the point of view of breaking up the display of different Discussions\Conversations because I notice that when spread over multiple Boards it starts getting a bit complicated when they all update for recent posts making it easier to end up missing replies.

I can't help you with information about the other boards - let me know if you really want to pursue this and I'll get a Guru to pop over
However, if you have any questions about h2g2, just drop a note here and I'll get back to you asap

Well it actually related to the ID I was using, in fact I still use it mostly for conversations - all I was saying was that because I had set it up originally on the Radio 5 Live Boards (5 Live was one of the first Boards to go over to the new system regarding User ID's) it wouldn't work properly with the h2g2 Boards, as I understand it it is a common problem and that the only solution is to set up a new User account on the h2g2 board which is what I did - so actually I am registered twice on the h2g2 Boards but one has problems because it is actually a 5 Live account in theory, although I thought the whole point about the new User ID system was that they weren't localised to a particular board.
This is the other User ID:

Did you migrate your old account to the new sso when BBC started to use the new system
If you have registerd again to use h2g2 you should be able to use that name and password any where on the bbc

Hello there all - welcome, Lord of the Isles!
Although Single Sign-on enabled people to use various BBC boards with just one login ID, not all of the sites offer all of the functionality available. So what happens when you register with BBC Messageboards is that your account 'belongs' to the site you sign on with initially - and the functionality provided is only ever that provided by that original site. (It can be very confusing, as you see the same page that everyone else sees - you just can't use all of the elements of it).
We haven't automatically moved the accounts of those who have requested a transfer from other sites to h2g2 - we've had to guard against an influx of people who want to use the site as a chat room or to just take advantage of (in some cases) more advanced functionality.
However, as we can see you've already contributed to the site in other ways, so we'd be happy to transfer your account, if you'd like us to.
Please let us know if you'd like us to do this, and we'll make the necessary changes.
(I hope that makes sense, by the way!)
Natalie

WOW!! How's that for a response - and from an Italic too
Thank you - and Natalie, if I can understand it (and I can) I'm sure that Lord of the Isles will breeze through it
Thanks again.
