I'm not sure I trust any of these computer analysts because shortening "The Year 2000" to Y2K is the kind of thinking that got us into this to begin with.

*LOL* Good point! Great, now we'll have to face the Great Abbreviation Bug! Just wait, companies will begin worrying about being GAB compliant.

I know some people who are definately not GAB compliant, you give them a second of your time and then they never shut up.

True! Sheesh my sis will *never* be GAB compliant! Plus, I'd never be able to stop her from using those blonde abbreviations.

Never mind GAB complient, have you thought about Eon-Complience. Sure, we can start writing code with four digit dates, but what happens in the year 10000. I think I'll write a load of code, then hand the debugging instructions down through my decendents so that they can be the expensive consultants, instead of the cheap ones.

I put this question to 1000 programmers:
1% said it will not be a problem due to program obselesence.
2% said there is plenty of time to fix it.
3% said that it was not a problem as they will be changing job next year anyway...
20% said 'Oh know, not again'.
30% started discussing rates and looking for a band with wagon upon which to jump.
10% said they did'nt care becuase they would be dead.
5% said they did'nt care because they would be retired. Therefore proving that you don't have to be smart to be a computer programmer.
28.9% said they did'nt care because I was interrupting a new episode of Star Trek.
and 0.1% said 'What's an Eon?' which proves there is always one...
