Hey BoF! Thought I'd stop by to say hi on your Personal Space because you look pretty cool. There are several reasons wherefore I am saying this:
1. You are 14 years old *and* write in complete sentences. This is a rare combination.
2. You have good taste in music.
3. You didn't throw up a fuss in the EGWW about your entry being in the wrong review forum.
So... welcome to h2g2. I came here when I was 14 and now I'm 16 and hooked. You think you can get addicted to drugs? This is *so* much more potent.
Hey there!

Thanks! I feel so loved!

So you play the violin, huh? Have you heard of Jerry Goodman?... Probably not. I think he's dead now. Well, he played the electric violin for The Mahavishnu Orchestra. He was really good. If you can, buy "Birds of Fire", their second and sadly final cd. If not, download "Celestial Terrestrial Commuters" and "Open Country Joy". That's where the violen took a larger role in the music. Jerry and John Mclaughlin also traded off some good solos in "One Word" which is a bit long. *cough*almost10minutes*cough*
I play the electric bass, trombone, and kazoo. I'm a band geek and proud of it.
Our new band teacher is cool and pretty young, but he's a bit of a perfectionist. It can be good and bad at times. It seems like an awful thing, because whenever he thinks we are not putting forth enough effort, he just kinda walks off and looks pissed. We don't even play for the rest of the hour. It makes most of us mad, because we want to play. But then the next day we put twice as much effort into it and do alot better. It's funny, because we probably play half as much as we did with the old teacher, but are 10x better anyway.
I have a problem with rambling as you can see.
Anyway, you seem like a really smart and nice person. So,
Hey there!

Heh. Band teachers. It's often hard to come by a good one. I had a brilliant one in middle school but the high school one's a bastard and so I quit school orchestra.
Rambling is good. I do it far too much.
I'll take a look at these Mahavishnu folks, especially since I'm seeking out music on iTunes even as I type.
Hey there!

Oh, he's still a good teacher. Before him, we didn't really know the difference between flats and naturals, crescendos and the...down thingies, and we only knew of one way to play, loud. Because of him, we don't just play through the notes, we get EVERYTHING down.
And if we're having a good day, he can be cool and funny. Unlike you, in our town, we have the same band teacher for middle school and high school.
Hmmm, I still can't decide whether to do normal band or jazz band next year. Maybe I can figure it so I can do both.
Warning: Abrupt change of subject ahead!
At my school, Royster, we got a new gifted teacher last school year which was good because the old one, Mrs. Buckley gave me nightmares. Well, she was really cool and said she wanted us to come up with a new name for gifted to represent a new age for middle school gifted. I came up with MARS.

The gifted students voted and my name one! It's really cool, because when we go to gifted and a friend asks us where we're going we can be like, "We're just going to MARS." We got a kick out of that for a while.
Sadly, the cool teacher is leaving. It doesn't affect me, because I'll be in high school anyway. But what's waiting for me there? That's right, the dreaded Mrs. Buckley! *Que dramatic music* BUM, BUM, BUM! It's not that she's all that mean. It's just that she's so formal. You can't really have a fun time in her class. It's so serious.
End Rambling. Why don't we stop for tea and crumpets?
Hey there!

Heehee, "gifted". Been there, done that. They call us Seminar students - in the old days when we were younger and less mature (not that we're mature now) they used to call us "Seminerds".
You probably shouldn't be giving out your teachers' names online. Just so you know. I'm a little paranoid about Internet safety, you see.
Jazz band's cool. I recommend it.
Decrescendos would be the word you're looking for.
Yum. I like crumpets.
Hey there!

Seminar? Isn't that what you go to to become a minister? Duh, that's seminary. (My grandpa was a minister.) Seminerds...hmm, very complimentery. We have lame names for the sixth and seventh graders. Sixlits and Sevies.
Yeah, I guess so. I saw on the news once that a kid got the family computer taken away for evidence because he made a threat in a chatroom or something. I don't think what I said could be taken as a threat, more like a dread of what's to come. Thanks, though, I need to start doing that.
In the grades ahead of us, there are only about one or two bassists, so next year I'm sure Mr...ooh, almost let another name out. I'm sure our band teacher will be crying out for some bassists for jazz band. There'll be plenty to meet the demand too. currently in the 8th grade we have 6 bassists.
Key: Complain about this post
