Hi, Christiane.
Yup, I've been around a while now. I joined on 12th May 1999, 3 years before the BBC bought the site over. When I joined, the site had been "public" for about a week.

Sadly not. I exchanged a couple of letters with him about ten years before the site appeared, but never got the chance ti meet him.
I was always a big fan, though.

Hi Peet,
I have got my dates all wrong then.
I must read his life again.
but great to talk to you - in spite of your protestations I am sure that you had a lot - and probably still have - to do with organising and setting up this site.
I believe that I joined in about 2001/2 - cannot remember exactly when. I know that there were a lot of things that I did not know about. I also know that I got moderated for writing to whisky in French. !!
I was mortified and thought I had committed a dreadful "sin".
My goodness. Writing in French on and english website.!
What greater crime could an older member commit. !
so honoured to talk to you.
christiane.
