So I'll repeat it here: "We're all devastated by such despicable criminal acts and the news coverage here, I'm sure, is just a taster of what they are experiencing, though it is indeed"

We are well away from any danger but, as the story develops, the whole country is traumatised.

There is no evidence that any of the fires were deliberately started, but the possibility is always in the back of your mind.

The positive part is that the whole country is pulling together - acts of kindness and courage are many. The governments, both federal and state are doing the right thing - a blessing really, help was given immediately and continues.

One thing about us Aussies is that, when the chips are down we are all there for our mates.

The TV coverage here is shocking, so much pain and trauma and loss

We can only send you our thoughts and prayers



I must say I am impressed with your PM, we had TV footage of him hugging a man who had lost his home, I'm not ashamed to say I wept. The horror of being trapped by fire is almost unimaginable yet there is the evidence and the ashes of people's homes just breaks your heart. We're so, so sorry Feisor, for your countryfolk and your country. I pray there were no arsonists but if there were I hope stiff penalties are meted out, it beggars belief to imagine this kind of horrific devastation was deliberate by despicable individuals, I have no words for them

and I hope you and yours stay safe

As I said elsewhere here, it certainly makes you feel grateful.

I make sure that I tell my family often how much I love them but this misery and loss hits home and I hug them even harder.

So many sad stories ....
