Hi there, thank you for your welcome message, much appreciated. Coming on here for the first time is like that moment when you realise you are at a party where you dont know anyone....you assume they are friendly but it's nice to have it confirmed!
So I've now written an intro to my page. I don't really know the sort of things people generally put on their pages, I've looked at a few but not many...take a look if you get time and any comments welcome.
I suppose the way forward is to write articles, and comment of other people's, yes? I'm slowly catching on...you have to bear in mind that it took me until I was out of university to get me head around facebook! so this could take a while. I'm here because I write stuff and this looks like a godo place to get it to a wider audience.
Anyway, I see you are from Sydney, a part of the world I've always wanted to visit. I'm in rainy old England. But at least we don't have much killer wildife as you guys. Which makes up for the weather. Seriously though, do you see much life threatening flora and fauna on a daily basis? I'll be honest, that thought has held me back from visiting on a couple of occasions!
Right, I've gone on enough. speak soon. Paul

Your intro looks fine - and remember, it's not set in stone, you can add to it and change it as often as you like
I'm posting this from w*rk so can't chat ....
Have you looked at the New Researchers link that I left in my original welcome - it really will help you get the hang of this place
If you have any questions about hootoo (as we call h2g2 around here) just drop me a line here and I'll get back to you asap.
Have fun!
