Dear Feisor,
I have only just acquired a computor but do enjoy the vast amount of information available.I'm a retired physics schoolmaster spend most of my time reading, studying, asking questions about"What is it all about?"
I was wondering whether I was out of my depth tresspassing upon h2g2?
I'm divorced and live alone in Blackpool,England!I enjoy trying to resolve such questions as" Do dreams serve a purpose or are just a by- product of the brain?" "What's the criterion for dreaming?" How far down the mammalian tree do we have to go before the process of dreaming no longer takes place?" It is known that dogs and cats experience the function of dreams but do whales or dolphins? Sorry got carried away.
Hope I've not bored you to much- thank you again for troubling to contact me.I will try my very best to abide by the House Rules at all time. All for now Royalcasablanca.

Greetings! And thank You for posting.

Dear Sir(Not sure who I am replying to),
What does "Used Edit? masthead=1" mean? I do not think I'm intelligent enough to be a useful member of your h2g2 establishment.
I'm a little confused about the terminology involved-so it is perhaps better I withdraw now before I make a real fool of myself!
Good-bye and thank you for the kindness you have shown me.
Royalcasablanca.

Dear Feisor,
Because of your kindness and your help I will endeaver to be a worthy contributor to the good name of"h2g2!"
I'm very slow to learn at times! As you have probably noticed the standard of my English is something not to be desired. Whilst, in junior (Elementary School ,to be precise during the ninteen-forties)school I was excellent at pure mathematics-but frequently known as a"Duffer!" when it came to english. I really do enjoy studying engish language as a subject even after all these years.I'm still struggling with some aspects of the punctuation of some hyphenated( and/or non-hyphenated groups of pairs of words)! Does that make sense? I'm still uncertain as to whether the word "DRIVING" in the phrase"...a driving glove.." the meaning is "a glove for driving," that is, the word must be a noun but yet used as an adjective. However, the word "DRIVING" in this case is spoken of as being a GERUND!" in most gramma books! A "GERUND" is by definition a"Verbal Noun" so what is the word "DRIVING" then- in this phrase? Take your pick? Not to make matters worse, however,I once read that"Older Grammarians(what ever that may mean)distinguished the"Verbal Noun" from the "Gerund" some saying that the"Gerund" alone must govern an object and some that the "Verbal Noun" must be proceded by--THE--and followed by--OF--! Sorry but at this point even I "Got of the bus" as it were.
Sorry about the twaddling on again, but I'm about to study your last posting with great care and concentration, in order, to further my acquaintance with h2g2 phraseology. All for now-in touch soon Royal casablanca.smiley - biggrin

Dear Feisor,
I've previewed an EDIT on "Dreams"for Posting! If that is allowed ,by me-by the house rules- how do I get it posted for general Converation?
Sorry, but I am a little mixed up! I just wish to see if anybody can answer my thoughts on the topic of the DEGENERATE GRADEATION OF THE DREAM PROSSESS!" You may regret taking me on before we have furthered our aquaintance for much longer? However, I have decided to stick at it until I "Get There!" Where ever that may be. But I'm now in it to win it!" So I'm afraid for a while you will have to please bear with me and my many idiosyncratic thoughts! Royal casablanca
