Wondering if you could give some advice. I've made a few silly mistakes on the site. Firstly I left messages to myself; secondly I have made double entries.

I'm not certain how to leave messages correctly. The menu down the side of the page has Write an Entry and Peer Review etc, not sure what these are for, or Guide Entries??? As for posting links and photographs ?

I’ve accessed the help page, but the info there is quite overwhelming, and a little confusing . Could you possibly give advice about the very basics of the site, how to post to other members correctly, start a conversation or even A Guide Entry. The rest I’ll dredge up later from Help.

I was thinking of making an entry in the Guide about the market town I live near, but am not sure if this would be better in My Space?

One step at a time ....

Firstly - have you worked your way through my Hints for New Researchers page at A719840 <---- click here - it's a gentle intro to the site and will give you a few hints and things to do and places to go. This should give you a good base to start from

Don't worry about double postings - that happens to everyone sometimes - especially if the site is a little slow.

"Write an Entry" does just that - you must have hit that button when you wrote A13943342 - you have also created 2 empty entries . When you write your entry on the market town this is where you will start - you can then write your entry and refine it and make sure that it fits the <./>writing-guidelines</.> and, when it's ready you "submit for Review" It then goes to PeerReview (to find out about Peer Review follow that link)

Have a look at what I've left and then come back to this conversation - hit reply and answer. If this is clear try it now

You don't have to start a new conversation each time - I will know when you reply from my conversation list - all this is explained on A719840

That should keep you going for a while - I have also replied to your Leroy Vandyke question - see if you can get to it from your conversation list.

And keep asking questions .... it's the only way to learn

Frm your converstaion list it looks like you have subscribed to <./>PeerReview<.> - this means that everytime someone submits an entry it appears on your converstaion list - too confusing if you are new.

Go to <./>PeerReview<.> - at the bottow of the page you will see "Click here to stop being notified of new Conversations about this Guide Entry" - click on this

Then go to your conversation list - if it's not a conversation or "thread" that you want to take part in unsubscribe by clicking on the little "x" next to the thread - this will unsubscribe you.

While you are new you really only want to see the threads that you are taking part in on your list - it's less confusing ....
